It's definitely lost some mojo but I certainly don't think it's dead.  This isn't the first time we've see a bubble and a pop.  It takes time to recover and some new catalysts to get it going again.  Just because you aren't seeing 300% returns in a month doesn't mean btc the technology is dead.

Polycoin's other thread today (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=599343.0) is worse in my opinion and represents libel against BTC-e and Bitstamp.  Most jurisdictions allow legal action against libel, and in some jurisdictions certain types of libel is a criminal offence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defamation#Criminal_defamation).  I would like to move threads like this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=599343.0) to a "Flagged as Libel" section to deter people from making up facts for the purposes of damaging a person's or a business's reputation.

Bitcoin died in 2010 when a protocol bug invented 184 billion bitcoins.
Bitcoin died in 2011 when it crashed to one cent.
Bitcoin died in 2013 when we had a hard-fork due to an incompatible client update that 50% of the network used
And now one exchange has disappeared and is probably insolvent.

You're exactly the reason we have 100 different alt coins created every day. An insatiable appetite for nothing but making profit.

The irony is, bitcoin is the backbone of most alt crypts as most are only priced in and exchangeable for bitcoin. If you hold lots of different alt cryptos you'll find via watching your portfolio fluctuations that the average value of your investment is largely dependent on the value of bitcoin.

Bitcoin provides the essential lifeblood for the delicate alt world. Decreasing trust/price in bitcoin = decreasing trust/price in most alts, most of the time. On the other hand, if bitcoin really starts to take off again, I expect a lot of the alts to follow suit, which could quite possibly result in some exponential-sized gains.

Remember, if BTC goes up 20% and your alt goes up 100% in the same time period, thats a 240% gain if you cash out to dollars.

So, you got to respect the BTC. I came around pretty quick after realizing there's going to be at least 100 other alt coins introduced through the rest of this year. If you want this world to flourish, BTC needs to be strong enough to pump blood into all these little capillaries that, to extend the metaphor, will hopefully turn out to fuel useful brain structures and not fatty waste deposits.

Glad you sold your bitcoin. Bitcoin community doesn't need week people like you,who can't use their brains and complain all the time!

The price goes up and down all the time. If people wanna sell that's upto them. I'm keeping mine no matter what and the price has stabilized around 400 - 450 .the more stable btc is the better for mass use.

Bitcoin isnt dead sure its been at the same range for quite some time now , but like they say the calm before the storm ,, so i am gonna hold on to my 10 bitcoins because when i will rise the wait will be worth it ,,  8)

I'll be happy to have your BTC at $248.40 per since you said 80% loss. :) If you bought them at $1242 per (Which you apparently didn't), the amount would be $248.40 if you sold them at 80% loss. I'm sure you are just a troll since its unlikely for bitcoin to die.
