Title: More transparency on reported posts statistics
Post by: Cryptopher on May 08, 2014, 09:58:25 PM
Hello all,

Currently the report 'Report to moderator' option displays your reporting stats e.g. You have reported 10 posts with 50% accuracy (not my actual stats lol). This is all well and good, but we have no assurances on how many of these reports have been acknowledged/actioned on.

So taking that example of a 50% success rate, one might infer that five were successful, while five were not. But similarly it could be two/two with six still requiring moderation.

If there were some stat indicating how many of those reported have actually been actioned on then the percentage would hold more value.

The suggestion isn't novel or anything, so I imagine that there is a reason for why it isn't like this, in which case I guess the suggestion turns into a question, why isn't it like this?

Cheers!

I doubt it will be changed for this current software. Maybe they'll improve it in the new forum, whenever they decide to launch it.

I thought that this might be a potential limitation, but that depends on the timeline on the release of the new software. If it is many months away then it would be good to see a change implemented in a new minor version of the software, like v1.1.20.

Coming from a development background myself I could appreciate if they don't want to support this software anymore if the new implementation is on the horizon.

I made the suggestion we should be able to see our bad reports (and also maybe report history) here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=593956.0

You can suggest changes or additions for the new forum design in the sub here in Meta, but it's unlikely anything will be implemented on the current system. Apparently the new forum is around a year away.

Cheers. I didn't see your post, but I can see that it was very recent so I probably should have done. Man, if it's a year away then little changes like this could deliver value to those reporting posts on a daily basis until then. I wonder if there is any noticeable overhead in producing that stat to display on the page, or whether it is simply stored as-is.

Don't want to deviate away from the topic, but when was the last time that any change was put in place, was it the activity/sig changes? If so then it looks like only policy changes will be put into place :(
