Title: Skylar: a Traveling Bitcoin ATM
Post by: The Bitcoin Co-op on May 09, 2014, 05:15:08 PM
Lammy was originally conceived as a way to revitalize interest in events at Bitcoin venues such as restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. We had been using those events as a way to incentivize Bitcoin adoption, but the community was starting to lose interest after a year's time. We also wanted to reach potential Bitcoiners in new areas, and noted that ATM sales tend to diminish following an ATM launch.

Lammy accomplishes that by traveling on a series of launch events, staying at each venue for roughly 2-4 weeks. He dispenses Bitcoin at a fee of 3%, .5% of which goes to to the QuadrigaCX exchange handling conversion. He will start at India Gate (Vancouver's first Bitcoin restaurant and the first Indian Bitcoin restaurant), stay until all the regulars have been exposed, then move on in search of newer pastures.

Follow him on Twitter at https://twitter.com/LammyATM! You can see his first launch event at http://www.meetup.com/BitcoinCoop/events/182117792/

Lammy is undergoing a personal transformation, which won't be completed for a couple of weeks. Apologies again for the confusion and delay, but you'll like his new style! The launch event will NOT be tomorrow.

Lammy is now Skylar, Vancouver's first operational Skyhook-model Bitcoin ATM! Check him out chillin' with Gurmeet, owner of the world's first Indian restaurant to accept Bitcoin! He's cool as Sikh! :P
