Title: WTB: Older Mining Hardware (2 ghash/sec+)
Post by: Riley600 on May 09, 2014, 08:04:14 PM
I'm looking for a little bit extra hashing power (probably to mine some alt-coins).  I would like equipment that's efficient (~1w/ghash), doesn't throw massive amounts of heat and cheap.  I would also prefer it to connect to my existing rig by USB, network cable, etc.  I'd be willing to pay Antminer BTC/gigahash ratios plus shipping.  I'm in Canada, so please factor that in if you are shipping internationally.  I'm looking for anything that's relatively small and over 1 GH/sec up to about 30-40 GH/s and nothing that consumes over 100 watts.

Let me know what you have and how much you want for it!  Thanks!

Are you open to mining contracts of 5 years @ 1ghs, I have one I could sell to you.

No thanks, I'm looking for some older hardware (in hand) to augment my rig :)

Some Bitburner Fury's or HEX16A2s would also be nice, if anyone is selling!

Some Hashbuster stuff would also be cool.  Maybe some Micros or Nanos?  Let me know if you are selling any!

Depending on where you are located I've got two HEX16A2s I can sell. .125BTC (roughly $50USD) each shipped to lower 48 UPS ground.

I will tell you this much about them. The Hexminer software that runs in windows SUCKS. There is a version of cgminer that runs in Windows that will work with these things but it craps out too. I've heard that the linux version of cgminer works great with these things but I have not tried it yet.

I'll do escrow but you need to arrange it and pay the fees.

Interesting.  So you're looking for 0.250BTC for the both of them shipped to lower 48?  Is that your best price keeping in mind that Antminers are going for ~0.4BTC now?

Yeah, I think I'm going to stick to my stated price point.

Ant's are coming way down man.... Guess they really need to get rid of them.  ;D

if you're looking for the best price per GH you shouldn't be looking at purchasing other people's older hardware, you need to be looking at the new and upcoming stuff, or miners that relatively new IE the antminers. People that have old hardware, IE someone that received a BFL Jala on time made their money back a longggggg time ago and are probably keeping them as a collectors item or just running them for fun nowadays. With that being said they have very limited reasons to go through the hassle of selling and shipping them for dirt cheap.

This. Honestly its more trouble for me to box up the two HEX16As and sell them than it is to leave them where they are.

I understand what you're saying.  However, I did have an Antminer S1 but traded it for some Gridseeds.  Honestly, the S1 was boring - I plugged in my pool info and it just ran like a champ.  I prefer hardware that I can tweak and play with, which I why I'm looking for some older stuff to add a little bit of hashing power to my rig.  I was hoping that someone would have some old gear that they've long since made their money back on that they can pass along to another member of the cryptocurrency community who wants to learn and tweak hardware :)

I get what your saying. I had 13 Ant's at one point and got rid of all of them and started fooling with Chili's and these Hexminers. So I do understand where your coming from but I'm still not going to give these things away. $50USD shipped to the lower 48 is the best I'll do.

BTW, anyone with Chili's should flash them with MrTeals latest firmware. I'm getting the same hashing rate out of the 4 boards I have but they run way cooler. bfgminer used to have them topping out at 70c now they top out at 55c. I have not checked power consumption but in the thread that has the firmware posted MrTeal says they use less power after being updated.

Oh yeah, I certainly don't expect anyone to send me their hardware for free.  I'm just hoping someone out there has some stuff they're not making good use of and is willing to pass it along at a fair price.  I understand that it's a bit of work but I'm hoping it'll be worthwhile for someone out there who isn't getting full use of their hardware to move it to someone else for a bit of money.  I'll let you know if I'm interested in the HEX16A2s :)

Make me an offer for the 16's, no harm can come of that. I've got to make some room for some other miners anyway which means these will have to be moved (to the interior of their host PC probably) so one way or another I've got to unplug them soon.  :D

I'm not looking for mining contracts - I prefer to have hardware that I can actually tweak and play with myself.

Gamefixer - I think I'd be comfortable paying 0.15 BTC for the pair (plus shipping to the US).

Any interest here? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=608859

Mine are still running the higher power firmware. I tested flashing them to the newer lower draw stuff and lost about 12GH/s. They're probably much more effecient running at 30GH/s each but I'm not worried about the power.
