You should probably make an inquiry to a staff member or admin regarding your issue. If you haven't received a response to your post that would be the best solution to your problem.

Hi,

My account Apsvinet was banned 2 weeks ago. I thought the ban would last either 7 or 14 days, but after 14 days without any response trying to appeal I'm starting to wonder how long I am banned for. Is it permanently, and if so, why have I not received any response to my appeal?

Thanks!

At the top of the page it should state why you were banned and also a time frame for how long. Usually the first offense is 7 days from what I've read and come to understand. If when you log in and it doesn't state why or a time frame then you would need to seek out a Global Mod as they would have access to that information. Hope it works out for you!

I don't get it.  If you're banned, why make a new account?  You are circumventing the ban and asking for a further ban as far as I see it.  From what I can see in all these types of threads, the people are getting banned because they are making too many posts that are considered spammy and they are a member of a sig payment campaign.

It's only going to be a matter of time before they ban these sig campaign altogether.  You should probably just accept your suspension, let it's run it's course, and try not to get banned again.

Circumventing the ban be creating another account definitely isn't going to help your situation.

I urge you to keep this post free of unrelated / non helpful responses commenting on things you're clueless about, thank you, IamCANADIAN013. I'm very much accepting my suspension, however I would appreciate it if I knew how long and for what reason. I'm not looking for random people to post what they "think" is the reasons, and not their endless rants about signature campaigns either, for that matter.

The reason I made this post ( which I thought was crystal clear ) is that is nowhere stated the reason of the ban, or how long the ban is supposed to last. If I was able to obtain this information myself, of course I would do so. But having not received any response from the email address that I'm prompted to email if I want to appeal my ban, I figured I could ask here, and hopefully get a response from a moderator. After all, a moderator banned me, and most likely knows the reason why.

Here's a picture, so that you can see what message I'm getting, where no time frame is mentioned, nor any reason.

Seems like a perma-ban to me. I have also heard that nobody ever answers appeal emails.

Well, most appeals are probably "waaah, whhhy?  I won't do it again... unban me!!!!!"

I doubt it's a permaban just for spamming on a sig deal. Maybe the mod who issued it just forgot to write the duration as has seemingly happened before. I'm sure a mod will update you once they see this thread. PM a mod or something after a day if there's no response.

Well they tend to forget stuff then. They left out the appeal email for me. Although I had found it on some picture around here, I though that theymos would probably not answer it so I didn't even bother.

PM a mod or admin to get it figured out. Posting threads is a waste of time as most of the staff/admins probably don't read them.

Contact BadBear. He issued the ban, he should know why, for how long and any other info.

OTOH that's hardly surprising. I agree there are many ways of appealing/complaining/whining and the one you quote doesn't look very effective to me either :) but if I was banned and I didn't get to know the reason, of course I would send an email asking for some information.

I doubt theymos would even respond if you PM him "and I Think he/she is the only one capable of removing bans"

I do have a question on this matter though. When you get banned, why are you prevent from sending PMs even to staff members?
You essentially have to create a new account to ask what and why it had happened, don't you?

I'm sure if you PM'ed him enough he'd respond :) -snip-

OP was (most likely imho) banned for spam and your "solution" is spamming the guy that runs the board?

I pm'ed this guy yesterday, it's been resolved already.

It wasn't left out, temporary bans have never been appealable because only admins could do it. He added the ability for me to add/remove bans and issue temporary bans a while back since he isn't as available as he used to be, and I didn't want to be an admin.

Most people know why they got banned, they just play dumb and hope we don't realize it, or they want to stir up drama.

Hey BadBear, since you are here, could I ask about altcoin board spamming? What boards do you look out for most often so I can check on my posts?

I rarely read the altcoin board anymore, I'd rather smash my balls with a hammer. Some of the other mods do though.

Hmm. But you issued me with a ban, apparently. Not to say it was unjustified( on the contrary, I was at fault), but why and where did I spam? Do mods have like a spreadsheet of bans to ensure greater transparency?

There is a general ban list yes, and mod logs. For the sig advertising spammers I have a thread dedicated to that viewable by all staff that has a list, for both transparency and future reference.

Not gonna say how I caught you, because then all the signature service threads will be full of "Don't do x!". They already kind of are, but it's mostly false assumptions.

Oh.. I am kinda disappointed that the list isn't viewable by all, without the explicit reasons of course .

I was banned for a week and felt it was very unfair especially without any sort of warning. I don't think my posts were spam at all. This is my first post back since my ban if anyone want to check them. Very disheartening.

You don't have enough time on your hands to be an admin or you just didn't want the responsibility? That is a good thing, since I know that he can't handle all of that alone, I mean, who could?
Most people, yes, what about the ones that don't? Playing dumb is never the solution, yet they seem to do it often (I read a lot of 'why i was banned' threads, on my one week vacation from the forums).

Maybe they just banned you because of your name.

But really, if you're not posting something productive on a thread then don't post. Things like "Lol that's funny" or "Wow that's cool" are probably going to be marked as spam. Or if you don't read a thread and post an offer or ask to buy something that's already clearly been sold if you read the thread. Maybe try to make being on the computer a good thing by posting constructive posts instead of sitting their posting half-brained comments. It's not that you're stupid it's just people are so use to doing it that it's become a thing. In some cases it's completely fine but I've started seeing it all around the internet, meaningless and pointless posts made on threads, and some of them don't even have anything to do with the thread. Either you're trying to get a higher forum status or you're just not using your brain.
They don't ban people because of their account names, never have and never will (afaik). I still don't really understand how once can be really productive in a thread in the off topic section (okay for the other ones). There are threads basically intended for spam, like that word game, counting with images, reply to the last post with a question and such. How can one be constructive there?
