Title: Should I reboot my Antminer S1's regularly, like once a week
Post by: hheellll on May 10, 2014, 06:20:23 PM
I have a small bitcoin mining farm with twelve Antminer S1's.

I want to set it up in an exemplary manner as far as management of this farm is concerned. I do it for selfish reasons, so as to make the maximum amount of money and to make it easy to manage them. Th that end, for instance, I already monitor them to make sure that I know when some of them are down. It already helped me when a cheap power strip tripped its breaker, I knew about it in an hour.

For my other (non-antminer) Linux servers, like algebra.com webservers and others, I reboot them on a regular basis, once a week. This seems to be the best strategy and it makes lock-ups extremely rare.

I am wondering if I should, perhaps, reboot antminer S1's on schedule also, such as once per week. Do antminers lock up due to software reasons, in your experience?

thanks

I leave my Ants on for several weeks at a time and I don't notice any difference from when they first go on.

The exception,  from what I have seen,  is if I do a bad job managing heat and the chips get too hot.  If heat is a concern for you,  you might want to reboot every 24-48 hours.

No. No reason to reboot them at all.

use mDudes program  it monitors them   and if you get x's   it auto boots.

note:

x's are reason to boot. as they cost hashpower

My ant never stops - don't poke the bear.

DO install the kano's firmware, it brought my system load down from 1.9-2.2 down to 1.2-1.3.

Can you link to where to get kano's antminer firmware and the concept of system load?   Thanks!

Most electronics will last longer if left on. It reduces the amount of heat cycles thus lowering the stress created from that.

It is better to let them running without restart, as mentioned above, they will last longer if just leaved in constant working load.
