30 users per page × 6509 (number of pages with 0 post) = 195248 (195270 now, some users registered)

But I'm curious how long your account must be inactive to be deleted?

Your account won't ever get deleted I believe. This is just how forums work. You can come back in 2-3 years and start using your account again.
The number is surprisingly high.

The forum should wipe them. I bet they took a lot of good usernames lol.

Some forums prune innactive members but this one doesn't. I think if somebody registered an account but never posted it could be pruned after a certain ammount of time. Most were probably created by bots or something anyway.

Over 130,000 members have posts at this forum.This indicates it is indeed a huge forum. Still 60% members have no posts which is strange.

Crazy number. I wonder why people create so many accounts and never use them.

That kinda makes sense, they probably come back and sell them just cause user names can be used for a certain company.  who knows.

I think the way things work right now
If you have an old and inactive acct you can return load up lots of low value posts and shoot up your activity level quickly
Therefore valuable

I don't think It works like that. If you have inactive account even for 1 year and then come back, you'll still get 14 activity per 2 weeks period and no more. So how can you "shoot up" your activity level quickly?

I got more interested on the reasons why this number is huge.
I agree that one reason is maybe they forget the passwords but I think it could be retrieved by forget your password link, right?

People who join and never post like alt's,wrong user,leech is always high. but this one is a world-record.

No you can't. The activity increases a maximum of 14 every 2 weeks. You have to post in these periods to get it to increase.

At least I'm already beyond that point  ;D , allot of people don't post in forums they register to (some just view and some join out of curiosity)

It depends. If it's some of his humorous threads, or his serious threads.

Well, firstly It's amazing and Its hard to believe how hard you have to no life to achieve this. Should be painful  :o Those eyes should decreased  at  least one diopter.  :'(

Yes, it would have been happened but I don't think in any considerable number.I believe there must be less than 50 accounts which are created for this purpose.

Well there are some who do that. I know a few senior and hero members who rarely post but keep an eye out here.

I knew there are always some ghost accounts that are registered and never used on every service. But this number on Bitcointalk forum is way too high, admins should wipe some never used account maybe like once in 36 months.

There are a lot of space, the actual number of less than 1/3.

Many (most?) of these are likely to be spammers whose posts have been deleted.

That is a remarkable number of inactive accounts and I agree that the time logged in number would be equally interesting and another piece of the puzzle of why these accounts were created and could be used for.  Does anyone know what is typical for other forums? 

Unless it is zero work for the system, I see no reason to keep inactive and unused accounts.

Ya, auto deletion of inactive zero post accts after some time elapse might just be the way

Most Forum's do that (if the account doesn't do anything for more than a month). these just take lines and occupy usernames.

Yes but only for those accounts that has 0 posts and are inactive for more than a month but If It has at least 1 post It shouldn't count.
