Title: btc-guild.com <-- domain name auction!!
Post by: mc_lovin on January 20, 2012, 08:57:16 PM
Hey peoples!

I have an awesome domain name (www.btc-guild.com) up for auction!

The auction will end at 10PM CST January 30th, 2012.  Click here (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fullscreen.html?n=265) to see the exact time in that zone so there is no time zone confusion.  If there are bids placed in the last 30 minutes, the bid will be extended for another 30 minutes each bid.

FULLY transferable domain.

I can also host this domain for you for 1 BTC per month.

Bid in US$ or BTC but the value of that bid has to be greater than the one before it.

Starting bid = 1 BTC.

HHhmmm. Something about this seems rather familiar.
However, I am interested...but only if you also have deep-bit.com or perhaps micro-soft.com also for auction  ::)

Right.  But if you purchase the domain and want to transfer it to another registrar, like Godaddy for example, you need to pay a domain transfer fee, like like everyone else.  If you want to stay on Bravenet, I'm pretty sure you can transfer the domain for free.  When you have the domain transferred to your registrar, it will count as a renewal so the domain expiry date is irrelevant.

This domain gets lots of typo-hits from people trying to go to btcguild.com, obviously.

Have any kind of stats on how much traffic it gets?

it wasn't like a flood of traffic, but a lot of people end up typoing it.  at one time i made a frame that displayed a google ad banner and the bottom frame loaded btc-guild.. but like days later btc-guild put "function breakout_of_frame" (you can see it in the first few lines of their source code) so I pretty much had no use for the domain anymore (plus Google Adsense banned my account at the same time!!) so I just put an animated gif of an old man falling up an escalator with a hit counter at the bottom.  I think there was like 500-600 hits to the counter in like 6 months.  I would install test forums, games, and other test sites on the domain to experiment before implementing them on a different domain.  It's probably immoral to put the frame with the Google Ad on it but it was a short-lived attempt at a free lunch which cost me my Adsense account.
