Title: CryptoNote Exchange
Post by: TheKoziTwo on May 11, 2014, 09:37:57 PM
I'm proud to announce the world's first exchange for cryptonote currencies: https://cryptonote.exchange.to

The guys over at monero.cc has already put out an announcement.

Quote

The world’s first exchange for Monero just opened!

A beta test was done in partnership with the Monero developers and the end result was very satisfying. The exchange is operational and new features will be released soon.

Inauguration bonus (rewards distributed, check your balance on the exchange):

The first 10 first users will be credited 10 MRO each.
The 10 first depositers will be credited 20 MRO.
Beta testers will receive a little surprise in their account after they sign up again.

cryptonote.exchange.to

You need javascript enabled to access the exchange. Fees are 0.5%.

This exchange doesn’t invalidate the OTC thread. The OTC thread is still open and the price chart will still be updated for the time being but you are encouraged to switch to the exchange – nevertheless, remember this exchange is not and “official monero exchange” or an exchange the monero team has control over. Caveat emptor.”

This topic is the official support & discussion and I'd be happy to answer questions here. Feel free to share ideas on how we can improve. I'm looking forward to hear your feedback!

For anyone wondering: the promised bonus has been added.

Our cryptonote addresses:

My first deposit of BTC was fine, the second does not show up, though having 2 commits. Yes, I press the Re-check button from time to time.

Just a question about the API, TheKozeTwo:

Can I assume that the format is as in this way:

["hour",open,close,low,high,volume]

This is the chart. I just put the orders from bitcointalk and this CryptoNote Exchange in chronological order and create the chart.

It auto updates when I update my chart (the url will not change):

1. You should add a title to the website.

2. When you click "X BTC available", the "Amount" section is filled with X BTC instead of how much MRO that BTC can buy.

3. Nice exchange!

Pending Approval for withdrawals?

Dont tell me theyre manually sent...

EDIT:

Just read FAQ. I didnt see it on here or I wouldve just done manual trades on the thread. Boo.

.001 fee to withdrawal is another bad quality.

Whats the average time to get our withdrawals?

EDIT: How many staff are there? Big thing to mention.

Well its apparent theres not much staff or even much at all. 3 hours and going for withdrawal i still say its better to trade on the threads than this until you manage getting staff.

Much hype being creating, loving the dumps

Until now it's working fine. I have no time pressure on withdrawing money, up to 24 hours is ok. I prefer the money is secure. What I miss is a better overview over my own orders.

I knew withdrawals were manual and I'm more than fine with that. In my case, it's (BCN) deposits that aren't appearing. Are those manual or automatic?

I have deposited BTC only. They are credited after 2 commits. I didn't try the other coins yet.

Withdraws are sent manually, currently at least every 24 hour. Once I get a better system down I'm hoping to complete these many times per day and faster. I rather spend longer and make sure it's right than risk anything. If that makes you want to do business elsewhere I don't mind, I can't please everyone.

Automatic. But the wallet was frozen, I have just reset it and it seems all BCN balances are now up to date. Let me know if it did not appear.

Also all pending withdraws has just been processed.

I think it's something like "This exchange has NOT received a request for data from law enforcement", the idea being that if that statement is taken off then they've had to provide information to a government agency.

I thought your were going to make me look silly then, but no, no mix-up....  :(

I got to balances, click deposit, select MRO and put "5" in the box, then click generate.

I then C&P that command into simplewallet and it throws up the wrong address error.

I've checked the command letter by letter before hitting enter and it's correct - so no copy error.

Very odd..........

Try to copy the address into an editor first. Sometimes there are control caracters or so in the clipboard.

No. You have to send the transaction with a payment_id provided by the exchange, as all deposits go directly to one address.

OK, I'm back     ::)

Now my problem is that a BTC deposit is not clearing to the exchange despite it now having 14 confirms on the blockchain.

I have raised a support ticket, but so far no reply.

I understand that this is a new project and things go wrong, and I really don't want to moan, but the price has risen by around 40% while I've been here twiddling my thumbs.

Anyone from the exchange reading this?

Ticket ID - 1207

Guys look what I said above, the daemons crash a lot and a lot of it is being done manually. TheKoziTwo is offline at the moment so I imagine he is sleeping or busy with something. He will rectify anything as soon as he is here.

Please be patient its a day old exchange and until there are enough funds in the hot wallets it has to all be manual. It clearly states this in the FAQ on the site.

Even though we are bitching about deposits not showing up, I wanted to thank you for getting this exchange setup.  I just happened upon MRO yesterday and my first experience buying through your exchange was flawless after I got my BTC.

If you need any testers on your exchange to look at new features, I'd be happy to help if I can.

I don't have any specific schedule, at least once every 24 hour is my goal, but when I can i'll make them several times per day. I have been doing that so far.

Since I posted a "hey, wallet wedged" note earlier, I wanted to follow up -

I've done a lot of trades thus far with the exchange and they've all worked perfectly, with deposits and withdrawals happening on the timeframe you promised (once the wallet was fixed. grin.)

So - thanks!  It's always scary using a new exchange, but you seem to have done a really solid job so far.

Also, for those who like IRC, we are available at freenode #exchange.to

I don't like having to use that command to deposit, because you're forcing us to not use the anonymity features of it, which is the whole point of the coin...
You should be able to replace 0 with whatever you want. I am just trying to help with that command. But payment id must be included.

Will you please consider adding Boolberry BBR? It should be pretty easy.
Not at this time. There is a lot of manual work because the wallet freezes, I wouldn't want to add one more unless that issue is fixed.

I deposited but I did not like your interface and I decided to withdraw my funds back.
My funds were frozen ? Why ? I have no idea.
Will I ever see my money back ? I have no idea.
I would stay away from this side. Period.

You sir, are too stupid to live, let alone trade cryptocurrencies.

Anyway, on to things that matter, I believe when checking the BTC balance, you use "less than" logic, rather than "less than or equal to" logic. I, too, left the exchange, not because of the interface - I love it - but because of the lower volume and constant massive spread. Everyone else seems to have gone over to Poloniex, so even though I honestly like your UI better, I must as well. So, tried to withdraw all my BTC, but could not, due to the above bug. You owe me one satoshi.  :D

I believe it is the same bug that means you have to leave 0.000001 MRO or something like that in your account. Would that be the case?

You won't get a confirmation email. Withdrawals are (or at least were) done manually, at least every day. You will need to wait until the site admin approves the withdrawal.

Any plans to add QCN?  Looks like an opportunity, fee-wise, based on polo activity, but I have no idea about the work involved.

The problem is you still need people to come and trade there, its like someone saying we should make a btc exchange look at all the fees we could make but you still have to get people to trade there.

^Go to balances -> withdraw and you'll see if it's pending approval. The withdraws are with manual approval and they are processed few times a day. Works for me each time.

They're not manual but somtimes the wallets get stuck and have to be manually reset. That's probably what happened. When they come online in a few hours they'll probably fix it.

CryptoNote Exchange is shutting down

Before you freak out: No, we did not get hacked. Yes, 100% of the funds are in our reserves and secure.

This exchange was launched first and foremost to bring monero to exchanges. As I have stated previously most features were disabled and a basic but functional exchange was setup for this purpose. Long term my plan is to launch a much more comprehensive exchange on the domain "exchange.to". In that sense, cryptonote exchange has served as a beta test for this project and I am very pleased with how smooth everything went.

Since our launch, other and more established exchanges has opened for trading of monero and bytecoin and this has resulted in declining volume and liquidity here.

We peaked at ~250 btc volume within 24 hours. At most we held more than 10% of the entire MRO supply in our reserves, at this point, we hold ~64k MRO, ~600k BCN, ~100 BTC. We have 745 members.

Running an exchange is great responsibility as funds must be secure at all times, there can be no critical bugs and there is an on-going need for support work. With the maintenance work of unreliable MRO/BCN wallets, this responsibility and low volume combined I have decided that my time is better spent with full focus on further development.

Running this exchange has given me great insight into hurdles that must be overcome for the exchange to be truly great and I would like to thank everyone for participating.

I have disabled deposits and placement of orders. Please withdraw your funds. As a gesture of good will, any customer who holds 500 MRO / 5M BCN or more, you will be allowed to withdraw using payment id (e.g to move to another exchange), to do so, simply submit a support ticket with payment id and then request withdraw.

There is no payment id feature in the code. He's doing them manually which is why he doesn't want to have to deal with 700 manual payouts. If he did, you would likely have to wait a very long time for your coins.

Exactly this. With payment id I can only do one transfer at once because multiple payment id's is not supported. If you have 500 MRO or more in your account I will do it manually for you. I will also do it if you are really desperate.

Well no, i have only 15 but even that's something in BTC terms. I guess I'll send to my own wallet just don't want to fuckup with that lack of UI command lines.

Thank you for this great service! Without you, MRO would not have been in the same place as we are now!

Will withdraw my funds in a few minutes.

edit: I think he deserves a trust rating! ;)
Will add some trust when I got all my funds back :)

I'm trying to get a wallet so I can get mine off the exchange.

Screwed up my test Poloniex transfer by forgetting the Payment ID. Bittrex has suspended XMR. There are no Mac wallets (unless you're a Unix geek).

Now trying to get hold of a Windows machine and download the Windows GUI wallet.

Wait for me before you close the exchange please  :-[

Don't worry, people has only withdrawed about 20% of the MRO so far, looks like we're going to stay up for a while. If it's too much trouble for you, submit a ticket with your payment id and then request a withdraw, I'll do it manually for you.

P. S. I add my thanks for running the exchange and good luck with the next venture.

this could be huge for BCN, XMR, and all CryptoNote currencies, i think.
trading using BCN and XMR markets is something that would increase value in all CryptoNote projects.
honestly, i kinda just always expected it would happen at some point.
BCN and XMR still struggle to find their true value amongst the entire market, i believe, because they have not fully exerted the dominance they truly have in their respective markets. Currently the only basis for their valuation is their "being dominated" by trading against higher valued currencies.  No better way to show dominance than to create a platform that measures it in exchange value amongst inferior forks.  imo

would you not agree Monero and Bytecoin are missing an opportunity of asserting dominance in the Cryptonote space?
i am partial to CryptoNote, admittedly- but I truly believe the technology is still incredibly undervalued.

not trying to do anything but encourage the developer of the cryptonote exchange to consider reconsidering the exchange platform...
while things I'm sure have changed since the original, which I never had the pleasure of using but, the CryptoNote space is much stronger and active than 2-3 yrs ago.
