Title: LocalBitcoins competitor - suggestions wanted
Post by: moriartybitcoin on May 13, 2014, 10:43:40 PM
Hi folks,

My company is developing a competitor to LocalBitcoins and we're seeking user suggestions and feedback.  What features would you like to see on a LocalBitcoins-style website?  What improvements could we offer beyond what LocalBitcoins already does?  What do you like and dislike most about LocalBitcoins?

We want to provide a top-notch and innovative service similar to LocalBitcoins but with many improvements and new features.  Please feel free to post your suggestions here or email them to moriarty.bitcoin@gmail.com

We take user input VERY SERIOUSLY and if your suggestions make sense we will implement them on the site.

Thanks!

The only feature you could provide that would make your site more useful than LocalBitcoins is a larger user base.

Good luck with that - why would anyone want to move over to your site if all the customers are on theirs?

list the restrictions in detail... as i think that is what the OP is asking for.

no point whinging about it if you wont atleast explain the details of what you dont like, and what you would prefer to see.. otherwise nothing will change

E-C will be the leading "localbitcoin" within a few years so you'd better just drop this project. Waste of time. Sorry mate :)

Why? Localbitcoins = Only for bitcoins. When bitcoin is not the only e-currency localbitcoins dies. It's an alright name that you can remember quite easy but it is not bound to anything else and tied to only bitcoin, as said. E-C will have an exchange, e-mail,online market, news, "localbitcoins", education, tv, a community of e-c(e-currency)-users and an actual company behind it. Basically an all in 1 solution for people that's new to e-currencies AND internet.

So, scrap this idea right away to save yourself the trouble ;)

The more local/decentralized/distributed "exchanges" we have, the better. I am also working on something like this but for obvious reasons cannot share my model. All the best to you, and personally, I would recommend localizing it to a certain area, that's probably the easiest way to remain competitive anyway.

The best and most obvious thing is to add multiple currency support, so not just bitcoins can be bought and sold.

Yeah something globally that is E-C to remember... hmm..

Also, as you say Polycoin, something that takes all E-C's and not just bitcoin or 2-3 specific e-currencies..

hmm..  ;D

And Yeah it has to be decentralized.

Something that can last any storm and also spread globally. Thus it needs a name that is easy to spread person to person face to face.  If/When bitcoin/E-currency really hits it bigtime then it will be in the front of internet-spreading in africa and the Third world countries, right? So there you have E-C, what will an uneducated farmer remember? E - C or 5-10 different adresses/Companies?

I hope your E-C website is this, e-c.com, or ec.com, anything else would just be stupid.

Say that to africans that's never used .com or internet at all for that matter.

They will use the e-c adresses like its DOS commandon they're printing :)   (I have 8-10 E-C's, 1 for each purpose of  being online)

Allow sellers to accept or reject a deal before it goes into escrow. I've had some douchebag new buyers that initiate a transactions, then it locks up my btc in escrow and the buyer just disappears for days. While my btc is locked up, I can't sell to anyone else.

I personally feel increased competition would be healthy for the Bitcoin economy.

Been using LocalBitcoins for quite sometime now, and I can not fault them. They have a great team in place, website is intuative/smooth and they invest wisely into security.

Scratching my head trying to think of any new features - can't at the minute  :D  (Other than perhaps adding LTC wallets/escrow)

What USP's (unique selling points) are your team planning?

Best of luck with your start-up Michael

Sorry

BRUHAHAHA ROFL  ;D :D ;D

Perfect if you are looking for SEPA transfers from stolen accounts, mate. Police, account closures, just read their forums. Bank transfer payments on localbitcoins are 50-90% SCAM, because they don't give a fat rats ass.

Major improvement over LBC would be that ANY ONLINE PAYMENT requires verification of the account first. Not full KYC, just making sure the account is under the control of the buyer, and that ONLY such a verified bank account can be used to make payments.

Similar to bitcoin.de or Paypal, e.g. by making small test transfers over 2 weeks, then ask for the amount and a code, and a transfer back to the issuer, to thwart phising attacks. It is very unlikey that an attacker controls someones bank accounts over weeks.

Last time I tried to use the site without javascript, I was told to enable it (and lated discovered that I *had* to enable it actually). That's undesirable.
