Title: My current btc address say I may have double spends.
Post by: philipma1957 on May 14, 2014, 10:02:39 PM
This is my address.

https://blockchain.info/address/1Fo2K52Rz7LZw9fcF5BDdDBjfNaViQ8J3x

I tried out p2p pool and these transactions came to my address.

https://blockchain.info/tx/1b17ffc57129574eb54e71aa91e4c2f09c81c81404505ec2dd8c1112b07bd99c

https://blockchain.info/tx/2ab80f0954551a4ec559913f5da9bef709b76b0cdd257af085fecd59b4362b85

I think this is the one that started the issue.
https://blockchain.info/tx/108e67b1534d16031d3ec38d6eb89bd2a472ed0bb81d4673cc92dfd0706a4574

all of these have cleared  so when does my address stop having this warning.

Warning! this bitcoin address contains transactions which may be double spends. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to or from this address.

do i contact p2p pool operator?

do i contact blockchain info ? since they do the wallet.

Don't re-use addresses.

Problem solved.

Since I do all income tax with complete  and accurate reporting, less addresses with long traceable info are better.

I have to say your idea has some merit.  I will try 1 new address a month. Still allows for easy accounting.

what most likely happened is that p2pool mined a block that was orphaned, and your address received the payout from the orphaned block.

all of these have cleared  so when does my address stop having this warning.
it's just a warning. all your coins (apart from the double spent ones) can still be spent.

do i contact p2p pool operator?
it's p2p ._.

do i contact blockchain info ? since they do the wallet.
no

so grue  p2p is new to me .  Stands for peer to peer and there is no operator correct.

The warning never leaves?

I know the coin amount is tiny under .015 maybe .012  I have paid  more 1btc in extra fees since I opened the address since the address has 600 or more transactions and I pay .001 to .002 on each transaction .

It is a bit frustrating if it never leaves.

Looks like a bug on blockchain.info. You could wait to see if it clears out. If not you can create a ticket and point them to this:

https://blockchain.info/tx/1b17ffc57129574eb54e71aa91e4c2f09c81c81404505ec2dd8c1112b07bd99c?show_adv=false

and mention that a lot of addresses there have that warning. For ex:

https://blockchain.info/address/19TSdNvzZjXL8GXCdumfR4pneF2wshTKx8
https://blockchain.info/address/1ErQCg1E6QsQAaZNRrWdHc9ABdJoCnkJBM

Keep in mind blockchain.info support is known to be slow so you may want to wait it out like I suggested.

edit: nvm. I think grue hit the nail on the head.

okay if it is the case that it was orphaned  I emptied the address down to zero.

So have I  may moved the problem to a new address. I will need to look more carefully  at the blocks involved.
