Title: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: N12 on January 24, 2012, 08:24:18 AM I just checked on my old long position (buying some BTC on margin) on Bitcoinica with the few bits I do have there and wanted to liquidate, but I got this error message:
"Unknown action The action 'show' could not be found for PositionsController" Nvm, looks like it is just a technical bug. Still would suck if I had a big position now and wanted to liquidate, however. Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: BTCurious on January 24, 2012, 08:27:19 AM Err, this sounds like a bug, not like he's out of USD. It also sounds like you're overreacting.

He’s been out of USD for a few days now, as evidenced by the * on BUY (you can’t buy any Bitcoins because they are out of USD).Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: BTCurious on January 24, 2012, 08:29:44 AM Sure, but that's something different from this bug you're getting.
Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: Timbo925 on January 24, 2012, 08:31:59 AM The * implies people are want to go into long positions but cant do it. So you shouldn't have any problem exiting a long position.
Sounds like a bug to me. Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: N12 on January 24, 2012, 08:33:34 AM You’re right, that shouldn’t be the problem with my position, sorry. Anyone else experienced this bug yet?
Was just upset because this would be a disaster if I had a bigger sum and couldn’t liquidate it. I know why I left it at the small test amount now. ;D Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: M4v3R on January 24, 2012, 08:39:50 AM Did you actually emailed Bitcoinica support regarding this case? Ranting about this here won't help much.
Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: N12 on January 24, 2012, 08:51:17 AM I did just now.
What a hassle, I just wanted to withdraw what little I have there. Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: cunicula on January 24, 2012, 09:04:34 AM I did just now. Wright on January 24, 2012, 01:36:04 PM Speaking as someone who has been standing beside Zhou from day 2, watching it grow, hearing about all the issues and how they were being fixed (stuff that most people don't know about still) and discussing all the legal, business, marketing, partnerships, etc, it really annoys me to see people so ignorant as OP try to downplay all the work that's been put into Bitcoinica.
Your lack of understanding is not Zhou's problem. Do the world a favor and start putting question marks at the end of your drivel. Whoops, looks like you hitched your wagon to the wrong star ::) It's fun to pretend, isn't it? Perhaps someday you will get a real job, working as a realtor for Second Life properties in receivership would definitely be a step up for you ;) Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: N12 on January 24, 2012, 10:39:06 PM Your lack of understanding is not Zhou's problem. I cannot liquidate my position for a day now, watching the price decrease, although I’ve sent a support mail. Is this not zhoutong’s problem? Or is his business model based on zhoutonging people even with such methods? If you have nothing to contribute, please stay away with your ad hominems and garbage. Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: notme on January 24, 2012, 11:16:50 PM Try CTL-F5. This will refresh everything without cache. I'm not seeing this issue. Also, you could try placing a limit order to sell at slightly less than market prices. That should close your position without using the liquidate button.
Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: zhoutong on January 24, 2012, 11:19:06 PM Thank you for the error report. However, I couldn't reproduce the problem under default settings of my browser.
Most likely you have disabled JavaScript. Because the Bitcoinica website is designed with REST principles, we send a DELETE method to the position URI to liquidate it. Modern browsers do not support this method yet without JavaScript. Basically, GET https://www.bitcoinica.com/positions/7625 and DELETE https://www.bitcoinica.com/positions/7625 mean different things to our servers. If you use GET to retrieve the page, it will return an error because it's undefined. Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: N12 on January 24, 2012, 11:25:44 PM Thanks zhoutong, the issue was indeed JS and I was able to liquidate now.
I apologize for overreacting before. Title: Re: To Zhoutong/Bitcoinica Post by: M4v3R on January 25, 2012, 05:30:57 AM @zhoutong: in that case it would be helpful if the site shows a warning when user has javascript disabled. There are quite a few people that do that (either manually, or using NoScript extension) so it definately would remove some potential confusion.
