Title: Quick Bounty - Riser Configuration
Post by: Lucky Cris on May 17, 2014, 02:13:41 PM
Thinking that I bricked two mobos (I didn't tho) I went out and got another. One less slot and too many 16x! Anyhoo, I have more than enough 1x powered risers, but only 2 of the 16x and I have two rigs (10 GPUs) to set up.

Here's the thing - I know I can connect those 1x risers in those damn 16x slots. Question is - HOW? I tried all types of configurations but I get a blank screen if I use anything other than a 16x riser.

mobo: ASUS Sabertooth 990fx r2.0
OS: Windows 8
Cards: R9 290 - default Windows driver
Main Power: Corsair AXi 1200 (3 cards)
Slave Power: Thermalake 750 (2 cards - not even connected yet)

If it's possible to do with the USB risers, I know this is possible.

Anyone?

Found solution - It looks like my Corsair was somehow set to multiple rails. Who knew it could even do that.

USB Risers are more expensive, but better nonetheless. My next rig will be built entirely out of them.

Some folks have said that you get less has power... not sure how true, but since I opted to get a million of the traditional kind, that's what I have to work with lol
