Post by: singular on May 21, 2014, 10:56:07 AM
Im posting this to try get some help for people from BiH, Croatia and Serbia:

The Balkans region (Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina) was affected by large amounts of rain and massive floods. Large number of people were evacuated and their homes are flooded or completely destroyed. Material damage is counted by billions of dollars and there is significant number of dead people.

The Balkans region is located in Southeast Europe and through history, nations of this region were target of many wars. But all these negative thoughts about each other vanished when this region was attacked by a much larger force. This time, destruction came from nature. This region was hit by devastating floods which united complete nations to start working together and help each other. Duo to poverty of these countries, we need help from all over the world so we can start rebuilding our countries. We need help to provide basic requirements for normal life.

We are asking all members of Bitcoin community to help endangered people in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The effect of these floods are becoming more and more visible. After water is being drawn back, the effects of it's destruction are growing larger.
You can see BBC coverage of this disaster:

BTC donation address 1K4ACYrKEaJFYXKutu5DhtGtC3dsuMyeWV at your webpages has received 0.6298 BTC until now. All bitcoins were soon transfered to other different addresses. What is your plan of converting BTC to the flood-help. (When or at what donation amount will you do this? Will you gather all BTC in one (provably yours) address again before converting them?)

I have summed up the crypto addresses balances of the four
larger/more visible cryptocurrency campaigns which collected
coins to help the flood victims:

1.7 BTC
99601 DOGE
1.0 DARK
34.28 LTC

That is in total 2.37 BTC = 1119 euro = 1520 US$

I do not want to sound unbelieving, but how exactly did you verify that campaigns delivered money to the victims?

I donated a little bit myself, but actually not more than what I could live with if they were scammers; which they are not.
Just look at the final numbers, there are far more profitable ways here to scam people, if that is what you intend.

After all those terrible news, and having cycled through Serbia for quite some time, I am happy that I did - and I was glad that idealists created the opportunity to do that in cryptocoins.

Of course, I have no hard method of verification, so I used my instincts.

And something that has been largely eradicated in bitcointalk, it's called: Trust.
