Title: Average time a block is created Post by: taykaypee on April 21, 2011, 03:25:41 AM How long does it take the average computer to complete a block as of April 2011? 6 days or so? How can I compute this?

Depends on your hashing speed. I understand, I have used this, but what's the average hash rate? Definitely a range, and that's what I'm looking for. My current hash rate is very low, it's between 500-1000 khash/s Title: Re: Average time a block is created Post by: FreeMoney on April 21, 2011, 04:25:53 AM put in 750 and see? It's a long freaking time.
Title: Re: Average time a block is created Post by: Garrett Burgwardt on April 21, 2011, 04:32:28 AM Average computer, hashing with a CPU, is probably close to 1000 kh/s, or 1 mh/s.
Hashing with a GPU is significantly faster, around 80000 kh/s, or 80mh/s for an average GPU (for computers that have dedicated GPUs). Higher than that, I'd bet that for computers with dedicated GPUs, they're usually on the 5670 level or so, or about 80 mh/s Title: Re: Average time a block is created Post by: gigabytecoin on April 21, 2011, 07:11:26 AM Average computer, hashing with a CPU, is probably close to 1000 kh/s, or 1 mh/s. Most miners buy 5870s, or 5970s I thought? Or at least I did... which average 300 and 600 (stock clocks) respectively. Title: Re: Average time a block is created Post by: Garrett Burgwardt on April 21, 2011, 07:13:44 AM Right, but miners are certainly not 'average' users or average computers.
