From this point of view beeing centralized and run by a corporation is a very good idea. Banks and money transfer corporations much more fond of doing business with an other company then with a bunch of random blokes with some mining harware across the world :). If Ripple functions well then I was under the impression XRP was purely to be the grease that allowed the transactions to flow.

They hold 40% of the coins and this is not even a cryptocurrency... why we are even talking about this one on bitcointalk forum ? I though this forum section should be only about Alt cryptocurrencys. People speculated on it anyway, even though there were some truly massive whales (the company behind Ripple, Jed, etc.). Now the speculators are paying the price.

I didn't think it was a scam like so many did but I could never see why anyone needed more than like 1000 of them to act as "stamps" for any transactions they wanted to make using the ripple network.
Given the greed and insane behavior many bitcointalk users engaged in to get XRP via the giveaway that was run here, in some ways I can't say I'm that sorry to see it tank. |
