Title: Bitcoinica down?
Post by: alan2here on February 01, 2012, 09:38:00 PM
Or is it just me?

It's just you - or rather, you're having a DNS issue, I haven't been able to resolve their address myself for a while.

Now, this is extremely bad practice, so beware:

here's an IP that works:
https://50.56.4.62/

Again, bad practice. Don't trust random people on the internet not to give you addresses to phishing sites. Check it out for yourself as best you can to make sure that IP actually belongs to Bitcoinica.

I had the same problem few days ago and I noticed that is a DNS problem
changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 (google dns) and is working
don't know if it is fixed now if I remove the google DNS but I don't care

So how do I fix the DNS properly?

depends on your operating system.
Assuming windows:

Thanks. I don't think I will do this just yet, I'll let Bitcoinica fix it for now.

if it's a DNS problem is not bitcoinica. It's you or your ISP

A tempoary issue for my and Rebuilders ISP while other websites are fine using our ISP, or at least were for my ISP. The asymmetry here is in Bitcoinica.
