Title: Is Monero the new DarkCoin?
Post by: xux99 on May 23, 2014, 06:07:10 PM
Coins offering anonymity is a popular tendency in cryptocurrencies. Monero has a volume higher than DarkCoin, it is near its low and shows a rising value. Is it an opportunity for those that missed the DarkCoin train? Please explain your opinion in detail.

every coin will have anon features within a month.

i hear coins that don't want anon features tied to it building official mixer gateways.

The anon fad will be over soon.

Did fedora coins mixer work back then? why has it taken so long for anon coins to blow up?

I wonder what the next fad will be.

Monero, Quazarcoin, HoneyPenny, they're all forks of Bytecoin.

fork=they were cloned code for code from Bytecoin

Theres nothing special about these coins, why use Monero over Quazarcoin for example? There exactly the same..

Just another shit coin with no real use besides trading.

every coin will have anon features within a month.

The only way to make proper anon right now is CryptoNote tech, nothing is comparable today.

The anon fad will be over soon.

Anon a fad? Not sure about that, it's a very stringent requirement for many people in Crypto.

I wonder what the next fad will be.

Based on your investment advice, I have invested in Quarkcoin and Beecoin and I am mining Beecoin with my super stealthy x11 FPGA and ASIC.

Just another shit coin with no real use besides trading.

Bitcoin had no use for a long time either.

Monero leads CryptoNote tech and is a market leader, it'll soon have a very good GUI wallet and will become a standard choice for people that want real anon without the countless attack surfaces of other competing coins.

i hope the next fad will be for game-coin, like huntercoin

but probably the interest will shift on "curecoin" fad

the name of the coin is also important, i don't "monero" or "darkcoin" are a good crypto name...

For the use of most people coin mixing is probably sufficient. But yes i take your point.

Fad meaning once every coin has some form of anon feature then that won't be all we hearing chanted on every thread and all over the main board. It will become standard.

Cryptonote clones will pop up very frequently wait and see.

Bitcoin was the 1st and is the most widely adopted. It will be number 1 for a very long time.

No doubt, but the early days always establishes a leader.

As that leader gains more hashrate and more value, more developers flock to it and it's ecosystem will gain ground.

In a year there will be three main coins on the market.

- Bitcoin.

- Ethereum.

- An anon coin with dedicated anon blockchain.

Each of the three will have a million clones, but the next few months may (or may not) decide the coin that will slot into the anon category.

Yeah sorry if you read my posts I always say we are fighting for spot number 2 or 3 (Ethereum will probably take slot 2).

Although that post I wrote in your quotes does make it seem like I meant that one of the anon coins will challenge Bitcoin, which is not what I wanted to imply.

Bitcoin will not be challenged of that I am 99.9% certain, and if it is challenged it'll be from something we did not expect, a new paradigm of CryptoCurrency perhaps.

monero is way too expensive to make a decent profit, its at 0.006 now. even if it would go to 0.01+ you would what just make 2x. I think new coins want to ride the anon train which reduces the hype and gets overrated dragging dark with it

I think this so called anonymity is just a passing trend. Just like country coins.

anonymity is in my opinion the nr.1  important thing for a cryptocurrency.

if you thing its just a trend, than pls dont cry when monero go up 50 times and more in the next weeks, and you are not in the train.

There is something going on regarding the encryption algorithm. I looked into mining this currency, not only did I find out that it based of a very unique algorithm, but doesn't even have a GUI wallet, because of it. They can't just rip off a QT wallet because it's that different. The fact that it's shot so high so fast is pretty amazing considering it doesn't even have a GUI wallet. There something marketing changing about this algorithm that I think makes a big different between it and Darkcoin.

umm XMR does in fact have a gui wallet, several Cryptonote coins do now..... look deeper and the answers shall be clear for you.

Now the question was whether the drk new XMR

I don't think XMR is the new DRK they are different in many ways. Monero is only huge on Poloniex but has low volume on other exchanges.

DRK fall down, we shall see how it will stand for a month  ;)

XC has multi-path plus encrypted IM and soon  free voice video calling + block chain 2.0 and web 3.0 tech and in wallet purchasing and launching there own ATM's. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630547.0

SDC right now has anonymous transactions, and encrypted IM, android & IOS wallet that supports encrypted IM, it was released 17 july by the end of September it will have lite version of android and IOS that support free IM, video and voice calling and a trust less version of zk-SNARKs+ plus more stuff to follow.https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=745352.0

what were you saying about XMR and DRK again? oh yeah XMR is the next DRK AKA Dead....

You and your zkSnarks bullshit, stuff where matthew green and eli work since months/years on you are pulling out of your ass, dream on.

I think that i can speak for DRK and XMR at this point, both donīt need encrypted IM non sense, they are currencies.
If i want to chat encrypted i use Jabber+OTR or Bitmessage, encrypted chat is useless if no one else uses it in the world.

well we will see if it is released next month what will you say then...and Drk has failed every update they have had it's a joke, and XMR is ok but they sure taking there sweet as time to improve anything, so drop your hostility your not intimidating or impressing me, and you don't represent the rest of the world and have no idea what they will or won't use, this is about innovation and the two i mentioned have far more then anything you mentioned.

It's an entirely new code. So yes it takes some time, but they are doing it solely on donations! That's what makes it such a good coin, a real contender for best altcoin if you ask me. Once they finish a GUI and improved blockchain (cuz it's massive atm) monero will rise alot.

And darkcoin is massively mined by fpga's, so yea, that coin and algo are goin to die slowely now.

Best of luck to them maybe i went to far saying they were dead but there are a lot of great coins being ignored and the two that i mentioned deserve some attention SDC has no premine and was pre announced a week before the launch and they have done nothing but deliver what they promised, they say they will have zk-SNARKs (trust-less) by next month and i believe it because they wouldn't say it unless they could do it, also as far as i know  voice and video is encrypted as well so some big things happening and XC speaks for it's self it's truly amazing stuff, i bought into XMR and DRK but sold my DRK and still hold a few XMR i hope they do well, but they have a lot of competition especially DRK i don't see it staying where it is much longer.
