Oh.. so that justifies this post. I will not blame him. DRK at $100 will mean a profit of 14,100x for him. But the important question is why just $1? If I was confident of a crypto increasing in value by more than 10,000x, then I'd buy that coin worth at least $1,000. But just $1?

Darkcoin is the perfect script for a pump-and-dump, the proposition hits every single nitpicky thing that people could possibly believe is "wrong" with Bitcoin.

these pumps and dumps of alt currencies.. i wonder if it's the same group of people releasing these new cryptos, pumping them up, and then have suckers buy all in. once they feel like they've pumped enough, they just dump it off and move on to the newest crypto.

Buying in now is far too dangerous. The chance of a massive dump is rising every minute. I'd say, either wait for a significant bottom or move to another coin. Buying at new highs is seldom a good idea.

Way too optimistic I would say. This video is filled with nonsense (things like "Everyone from Dogecoin and Litecoin is pulling all their money out putting it into Darkcoin" and "Even people from Bitcoin are putting most of their money into Darkcoin").

Price is heading down at the moment, so predictions in the OP are just a little on the optimistic side, heh.  It's doing very well in terms of market cap, but that could be related to the premine/instamine.  I'll reserve judgement until it's had time to mature a little.

Mostly when you see a coin grow like this, it goes down just as hard as it went up.
Look at Auroracoin, Mazacoin, Mintcoin, Guldencoin.
So its not a good time to invest in this coin I think, but I could be wrong.
You could be loosing money if it crashes down again, it's only the question when is it gonna crash, in my eyes.

I haven't done much research about this coin, as I am mainly only involved with BTC and LTC.   I used to have NMC, but unloaded that back when it was still around $6-$7 per coin.

If the numbers regarding the pre-mine throughout this thread are accurate, that is really troubling from a potential investors standpoint.

There could very easily be the Ripple effect occurring in the near future.

But isnt that a bad thing because if someone takes the darkcoins you cant follow them where they went.
I mean I think its really nice, because if someone steals the coins you can see exactly wich wallet it goes into.
You can catch people doing bad things with that look at mtgox.
I think the anyonymous payments are a bad thing people can easily take your darkcoins and you cant see where it went.

The talk is that there was a hard fork, but the price is tanking.   I haven't been following very closely, but at a glance, it looks like it has lost about 40% in the last 24 hours

I sincerely doubt DRK is a "scam." Once people get a hold of their own coins, its really hard to stop them from doing whatever they want to do with them.

Tomorrow this financial guru Max Keiser (I do not know him but he has close to 100,000 twitter followers) will dedicate a radio show to DarkCoin. He's already been championing it throughout the day, though his timing couldn't be worse.

Darkcoin pumpers got to be at a crossroads right now.  The question is to continue to try to hold the price and pump it, or cash out.  They devs already made a lot of money, guess they are trying to figure if they can get more.

Coin worth of tens of millions of dollars, mainstream media starting to notice, privacy becoming more and more important, improvements and features being planned and implemented - yes, now it's time to jump out.  ::)
