I think something like this needs to happen somewhere in the Central US, so that way more people from each coast can make it. But of course if we could get some of the developers of Bitcoin, and some of the pool owners to make it, and some of the programmers, perhaps we could get an actual Bitcoin Developers Conference going (BDC)

Central US just means it's going to be inconvienient for people from BOTH  coasts. Just have 2 separate cons.

I am in Ann Arbor, MI, and if people express interest, we could try to match a convention with the one in San Francisco, or have our own.

In the us I suggest at least three locations for conventions/conferences: New York City, Chicago and San Francisco or Los Angeles

I am in Ann Arbor, MI, and if people express interest, we could try to match a convention with the one in San Francisco, or have our own.

I'm in Milwaukee, WI, so I could probably attend an event in Illinois (Chicago or Rosemont (where Anime Central is held))

Woo!  How about instead of a micro-convention, a micro-party?  Do you know any other Bitcoiners in the area that may be interested in a meet up?

I don't know anyone in the area. There is a poster named Santa Cruz though and tradebitcoin lists a guy in downtown SF, but no contact info.

Downtown SF would be me. I updated it to add some contact info, and change my name to kelp.

An alternative could be to have the client support multiple wallets, and select which ones should be encrypted. Then you could have a "savings account" with most of the funds and strong encryption. Another wallet with just a few btc could be unencryptet so you don't have to type a password every time you make a small transfer.

I'm in Madison Wisconsin. But I travel and may be just as likely to make a gathering in LA, NYC, or Washington DC. In any case, I would attend if such an event happened.

Mizerydearia,
Based on your location where you are staying in the Bay area it is an idea that you might have your party near San Bruno Bart. There is a mall in San Bruno called The Shops at Tanforan or the Tanforan Mall which is very close to San Bruno Bart Station. This suggestion is also based on the desire for Cuddlefish & FreeMoney to have the party near a Bart station and your not being familiar with the San Francisco area or Bart Stations. Although I have no idea what your Bitcoin micro-party would entail should you decide to meet at a restaurant or coffee shop this is my suggestion.

I shall be available to make plans on Saturday, April 30th and Monday, May 2nd.  If you're interested in gathering somewhere in San Francisco or San Bruno during one or both of those days, suggest where may be good place to meet up and when is good time.

I most likely will not have access to my accounts during the vacation, but will probably make use of Freenode IRC network to keep in touch and coordinate with others.  You can find me most easily in #witcoin channel.

If you know of any other bitcoiners nearby, feel free to invite them to participate too!

Gathering will take place at Noisebridge (http://noisebridge.net)!

Subway: 16th St. Mission BART

April 30th: 10am - 5pm (Seem okay?  Anyone available at other times?  If so, reply)

May 2nd: To be determined - Reply with your availability?
