Hi Everyone,

As you all know, we have been working furious in the background to bring NFD to life. We are excited to announce the NFD TESTNET is now ready for Public Testing!

Lots of testing has already been done but we decided before going live the more eyes we have the better it would be; also for those of you who have shown great support to NFD this is your opportunity to see NFD in action.

Option 1: Run NFD Client Locally

Getting started

unzip release file to your favorite folder.

change directory to sub-directory

Linux run
./run.sh

Windows run
run.bat

Wait untill you see:

Started API server at 127.0.0.1:9876

take your favorite browser and go to
http://127.0.0.1:9876/

It's a self-signed certificate. I didn't pay money for a CA certificate.  It's only for testing. Please add it to your browser as trusted for woll-e.net.

i like its warm color
maybe it needs some graphic tweak, but i like it this way too

do i need to keep the wallet open in my browser?

NFD/NXT uses a brain wallet. That means, you need a very very strong password. There is no wallet file anymore. This password is the private key for your account.
If someone else can guess your password, he will have full control over your account and balance.
It's very important to understand this point.

If you use a NFD/NXT online wallet, you must trust the server admin 100%.

You don't need to keep your browser open. NFD peer software is running in background. What you see under https://woll-e.net:9876/ is a HTML frontend for humans.
You can also download the release file and start your own peer server on your computer. This way you contribute to NFD peer 2 peer network. Overall stability and  security of NFD network will then be better.

As second you can connect to your local, own html frontend (http://localhost:9876/). This way you don't need to trust other server admins.

Could you delete your account ID from your post and send MaWo (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=200712) a PM with it? Bitcointalk mods actively jump on threads that have account IDs on them: that's part of the "No giveaway threads" policy.

you have to wait 1440 blocks, after that period you can activate forging with your secret.
check your effective balance. It must  be greater than 0 NFD

I am not tech, but I was in the same situation and just refreshed it, log in again and I was forging... so try to restart it.

The new client looks nice, but there are some startup issues:

General: Hard to read, poor contrast -> The original is better
Register Alias: Error: Could not verify transaction bytes (server side).
Issue Asset: Error: Could not verify transaction bytes (server side).
Create Poll: Error: Could not verify transaction bytes (server side).
AE: Buy 4 btc: Error: Could not verify transaction bytes (server side). (use existing order of the Asset Issuer)
AE: Buy 324: Error: An unknown error occured! The order may or may not have gone through.
Generate token: Error: "secretPhrase" not specified
Peers: Shown as "Not up-to-date", although v1.1.3 is the current version

I think I have found a bug:

When I try to set an account name on the woll-e wallet it gives the following warning:

Could not verify transaction bytes (server side).

This is shown in the 'set account info' pop-up screen.

I must admit that I have no experience with NXT so my apologies if this is because I am doing something wrong.

Thxs for reporting, I will look at this issue.

I  found the root cause of
"Could not verify transaction bytes (server side)."

WebGui and core code had a different genesis account information.

Aliases could still created with old HTML form:

Bug is fixed and woll-e.net peer is up to date.

I've tested a lot, but there are some issues yet:

- Registering an alias to an account creates acct:xxxx@nxt
- Account alias: It is not possible to give the account number in Reed Solomon Format (don't know, if NXT supports it)
- Peers: Shown as "Not up-to-date", although v1.1.3 is the current version
- Generate token: Error: "secretPhrase" not specified
- Help Button (upper right corner): NDF Website: refers to non existing site

Never used a NXT client before so bare with me. Tried creating an asset and wondering whether the default limits make sense.
1. Min price is 1000 NFD seems high?
2. Tried setting a duration of 48h and reported as invalid. Using a value between 1-24 works. Isn't a 1 day duration very limiting?
3. Asset name is limited to like 10 characters. You cant be very descriptive in the name. I suppose that's what the 'Description' field is used for?

Buying an asset was easy and worked for me.

Creating an asset is like creating a new company. Normally you don't do it very often.
A high fee should prevent spamming asset exchange with nonsense assets.
To work this way 1000 NFD is to less, it should be 100000 NFD.

deadline is the deadline for the transaction not for the asset. Every transaction has a deadline.
A not confirmed transaction will be thrown away after max 24 hours.

We discussed the asset issue fee internal in our skype groupe.
We will slightly increase it. livenet will have an asset issue fee  of 10000 NFD.

I just received my NFD test, next what should I do?

try unusual things:
type characters when number are expected
try small or high fees
and so on
