Title: How do I cut memclock in Win 7 from 685 to 340 on 6970 card/cgminer?
Post by: cypherdoc on February 04, 2012, 04:48:48 PM
sveetsnelda has shown me how to get it down from 1375 to 685 using MSI Afterburner and modifying the .cfg file.  it won't work using cgminer.

he claims on his copy of Afterburner that when you move the slider all the way to the left to 685, click apply, close program, reopen, you will then be able to move the slider now in the middle to the far left to 340.

this doesn't work for me.

You can't. memory can only go 125 lower than engine via the ATI Display Library which is how cgminer works, unless you flash your card. Windows apps use other windows-specific tricks to get around it that I can't use in cgminer.

He's trying to get this done in Windows with Afterburner.  I have no problems getting my cards to whatever memclock I want (in Windows).

I just wanted to say that i was convinced Sapphire trixx did change the memory down to 300 mhz.
Found out a few days ago that it wasn't true. On cgminer, going to check the clocks and the memory was at full throttle.

Used the -125 command and the room i way cooler, thus it slowed down the memory.

Granted i never tested Afterburner, will do to test it out.
