It has even been named by Wired magazine as the top technology that could make Bitcoin “far more anonymous.”

(From the ct article)
Recap

So let’s quickly review. Dark Wallet adds multiple layers of uncertainty to the already semi-anonymous nature of Bitcoin by concealing which addresses are sending funds, who they belong to, and which addresses are receiving money. Next, the user can further be removed from detection by taking advantage of multiple pockets by creating, switching, and deleting change addresses.

I wanted something just like this! Is it more demanding than a vanilla client?

According to this article there is an anonymizing service built-in to blockchain.info, in which case why would there currently be a need for something like Dark Wallet?

One wants a decentralized system so that you do not have to rely on the security, honesty, and lack of logging at a single source.  All it would take is one slip-up there to allow the anonymization to be bypassed.
