i just saw this:

keyboard shortcut: use ! to send all your coins.

is this really a good idea  ???

I like it combined with the "send from" feature.  That way if the addresses have weird amounts you don't have to add it all up.

yes, just select multiple addresses before right click to send from

You can shift click to select range of addresses or ctrl click to select non-continuous addresses. Then right click and select send from.

I think so.  I use a bunch of different electrum wallets for different things and clearing one out is a fairly common use case for me.

Also, if you think your key data may have been compromised and you are trying to send your funds elsewhere you will likely be stressed and maybe near panic and doing math to subtract a fee from your total is not what yo want to be doing.

i guess the fear is i want to send 1 BTC...and I accidentally hit
the shift key and type !   and since a 1 and ! look similar,
I might not even notice.

You type an exclamation point and it replaces it instantly with the total number of coins you can send. The exclamation point is never displayed in the send field. There is no possibility of making a mistake with this shortcut. Try it and you'll see.
