Title: bitcoind and resource consumption
Post by: shark255 on May 28, 2014, 07:12:31 AM
Why bitcoind consumes too much resources (core i5, 8gb memory).
And is there any possibility to decrease it, because i have an idea to put bitcoind on VPS,
but seems it'll slow down all system  :(

I run bitcoind with standard settings on a 2GB RAM VPS w/o any issues.   1GB should be fine with a little swap space, I'd imagine..

Though on a node where I have 500+ connections, I have to restart it every week or so, else it gets up to 4GB+ in reserved memory

Weird. Like the guy said above, it runs fine on 2GB Ram, and a small processor. I run it on a VPS fine with those specs.
