Title: Good day all
Post by: nathanghart on February 08, 2012, 07:46:58 PM
Yesterday was my birthday and I got myself 6 5970s to build 2 rigs. First test run last night...some success and some failures. Only detecting 1 card in the rig, but it ran and connected to my pool.  Now to get the other two cards rolling.

Good Luck to everyone.

What OS are you running?  You will have a bitch of a time getting three 5970s on one W7 rig.

I recommend BAMT for you.  Otherwise you will need dummy plugs for your 5970, but they are notorious for not being able to get to work in MSI Afterburner too, for the hacked up cfg file.

Not sure what you know or not, just offering help.

Thanks to everyone for all their well wishes. I have been busy learning and building my new rigs.

Yes, BAMT it is. I was seriously considering LinuxCoin and SmartCoin, but opted for BAMT instead. Mostly because it is fun to say....BAMT! BAMT! Seriously, it is a good platform. AaronWolfe did a fantastic job with it.

Best wishes , careful where you point them ;)
I pointed them at Bitminter...all but the one that was RMA'd. Hopefully it will be back shortly....which leads me to:

Where did you find those 5970's?  :P

Heh, I must be the luckiest noob in the world, but I got them at NewEgg when they were available for about 15 mins. a couple weeks back. I was scouring craigslist, ebay, and this forum for them and these just fell in my lap... It had to be my birthday karma.

Thanks again to everyone for your support and help along the way. Hit me up anytime you want to talk shop or something loosely related. I am a former CIO, currently a software architect for a SaaS company, and I built and ran an ISP back in the days before broadband. So if you need help or advice in those areas, let me know.

Oh, I almost forgot? You want pictures?
