Title: I keep getting this error
Post by: Kaspian on May 30, 2014, 02:36:19 PM
Hey guys, this is my first post, so I thought I'd start this topic off by saying hi first :) I hope to stay here for a while and learn more about mining.

Now, I have recently gotten this error when trying to mine a scrypt coin

https://i.imgur.com/FTxodWO.png

I have updated to the latest drivers and downloaded SDK. I do have a GPU, its a Radeon x600 Pro. I know its not a great graphics card but I got it for free and thought I'd start trying to use it to mine.

Does anybody know how to fix this so I can start to mine?

Thanks guys :)

I thought this was going to be about the 360 second posting error  :D. You should try ask or look over in the mining section here. I think you'd get a better or quicker response there.

Haha thanks man, I thought this would be the right place for help. Would I be allowed to post this thread again over in the mining section?

I think you should be ok to but I believe you can actually move it there yourself.

Yes, you can. It's at the bottom left of the thread.

What drivers and what SDK do you have installed?

What drivers and what SDK do you have installed?

I downloaded them from

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

http://developer.amd.com/tools-and-sdks/opencl-zone/opencl-tools-sdks/amd-accelerated-parallel-processing-app-sdk/

Oh, sorry about that.
My SDK version is 2.9.
The drivers that I installed were from a driver manager, so the "ATI Catalyst Install Manager" version is 3.0.715.0

Uninstall your catalyst install manager, and install 13.1 drivers from

When I click on the 13.1 download, it takes me to a catalyst install manager. Is this right?

Okay, well I have installed it, restarted my computer, and I'm still getting the same error. I have no idea what to do.
You are welcome to assist via TeamViewer or something if you can't find a way to help me like this.

Sorry for the late reply, this 360 second thing is starting to get on my nerves  :-\

Download GPU-Z and see if it detects your GPU.

I figured it out. It's so old that it doesn't even have OpenCL support, therefore, cgminer will never detect the device.

Thanks for your help though man. Is there another miner that could do the job for a scrypt coin?
