I wish bitcoin was more established.........   I am NOT saying to avoid sanctions due to their nuclear program.. and I do NOT want this to be a political statement...

But now the Iranians have to load up a freighter filled with Gold, and ship it across the planet to Australia,  then the Australians load up a freighter and ship grain to Iran.

However if bitcoins were established,  the Iranians would just hit the send button,  and the Australians would ship.

From my understanding the sanctions apply to the US dollar currency and their central bank....  so doing it that way wouldn't violate the sanctions.  

for my political speech,  I never think banning food imports is ethical...  you punish the parents and children and not the government.

There won't ever be enough bitcoins for Iran to be able to use them, they are making billions a day in transactions for oil/wheat.

I hope somali pirates get at that gold ship lol.

Ha, the spec board would crash if Iran bought $1 billion of bitcoins then Australia cashed out $1 billion the next day. Chaos....

If that were to be the case, then I will hang up my 'Da Bitcoin Guy' cape and call it a day.

Luckily, no such large scale transactions are made possible with bitcoin.

It could be used on small scale to trade with Iranian citizens, circumventing the Iranian govt. That's fine with me.
 

Not yet, not at the current exchange rates. Give it a few years. As for the comment about there not being enough bitcoins... what part of scalability is that hard to comprehend?

And since it's not cost efficient to return empty, you simply load the freighter with Iranian crude and drive it back to Australia. (sometimes I think I'm too smart for this forum)

well the iranian government doesnt give a fuck. the point of the sanctions is to make the people angry enough to overthrow their government:

im of the opinion that the government is already too brutal and people would overthrow them if they could. that instead it just makes people weak, shut-off and easier to repress.
