Title: post your average price of buying back in - 2014 ONLY
Post by: saddambitcoin on May 30, 2014, 06:24:14 PM
I'm just curious how everyone is doing. In your calculations please do not include what you paid for BTC prior to 2014, I'm only interested in this year's numbers.

My average BTC cost in 2014: $543.71

I bought steadily and cautiously sub-500, however a premature buy in the 600's earlier this year skewed my results.

Average price of all buys this year (including Coinbase fees, since I don't bother to track without them):

$473.10

I guess I've been doing better than I thought this year.

BTW, average sell price:

$606.52

About $620 I bought a couple, on the way down... Nearly going to see that price again :)

I'm quite amazed it went as far down as it did.

Of course, I don't have any sell price to quote 8)

How do you want me to calculate that when I regularly sell (and rebuy) nearly all my coins? In that sense, all my coins are bought in 2014.

The only buy-ins I've had in 2014 are leverage, and only in very small quantities. Average I'm pretty is $577, obviously more once you factor in interest.

Only did three buys this year, averaging around $475-$480.

The first one was at $440 just HOURS before it jumped up, was really happy with that one ;D

Have not sold anything and don't plan to unless we go "full retard" bubble mode again this autumn.

I sold some at $1000, $900 and at several other price points when I thought a drop was coming. I rebought those coins lower but I don't remember exactly at what price I bought them back. The end result was that I ended up with about 2.2 times as many BTC on Stamp than I had at the peak in December.

I also bought some new coins this year with fresh fiat at various price points between $400 and $700, I think the average was somewhere between $500-550.

I did various buybacks while trading in the 300s and 400s. Most of my coins are bought back at 460 but before that there was 420, and then there were these:

I haven't done the exact math, but I've bought a little here and there between 350-620, so average is probably around 500.

But but but.. Bottom coinz come with a moral obligation - because you are taking them from some poor frightened pal who will definitely lose money on that deal :)

Started buying from 600 all the way down to 400. Didn't catch the spike, had orders little lower. Average price for this year's shopping about ~490.

About $450.  I was buying through April and May after being a skeptic.  20% of my coins were under bought $400 by sheer luck.

Right now, I have enough fiat in an exchange to buy 1 more coin and will do it later today.  I haven't decided whether to keep buying slowly after that; I already hit my goal for number of coins and adding a few percent more seems trivial.

Somewhere around 520-530, I am a bit lazy to go and look at the exact numbers. But it feels pretty good to be floating around in the $600s now, I must say.  :)

My average price was about 590$, I bought back in March but wasn't a good deal because since then it only went lower... until these last days of rally.

My average price was around 520.30 I bought some in April but like Dolanduck that price wasn't a good deal because since then it only went lower down to the 400 450 dollar range until this recent rally although now it is in the green so that is nice.

Average Price and coin volume would be interessting.
Don't care about 0.01btc buys.

Trading with pennys is easy, but where are the 10btc+ traders? All bought below 400$ this year or still sitting on the 2010-2013 coins?

Last significant buy for me (and lowest in 2014) was at 460 to 470, on May 20. But that's not really a meaningful metric for me... I tend to look at the average of my coins by calculating [total money sent to exchange] - [money taken out of exchange] / [total no. of coins during 100% xbt position]

$515. And I did buy more than BTC10 (no, I'm not saying how much more).

What would be the best way of calculating the average price weighted by volume? I'd like to do that.

if you hit your goal - why not buy a little more so you have some BTC to play with when the price goes up?

Same, I've been buying in with any fiat I get my hands on, and will continue to do so for a long time.

Bitcoin has a loooonnnng way to go.

eg

Code:
price  qty  order value

$400   1     $400
$450   2     $900
$500   3     $1500

sum(order_value) / sum(qty) => $2800 / 6 => $466.67

I bought for the first time at 449 a couple days before it jumped...then also at 631....then again at 651.

I sold my first two buys for a nice profit above 650 and currently just hold my 651 coin.

I watched from the sidelines for a long long time before I went in...
