Title: Bitcoin-only art platform: Cointemporary.com
Post by: maxmint on May 31, 2014, 02:05:43 PM
A friend of mine had the idea for a very interesting art platform. Over the last couple of weeks I helped him and his partners develop the website.

Cointemporary (http://cointemporary.com) is a Bitcoin-only online art gallery. Is is showing one contemporary artwork for a period of seven days. During that time, the artwork can be purchased with Bitcoin (and with Bitcoin only). The price for the artwork is fixed in BTC and does not fluctuate along with exchange rates. This makes Cointemporary one the first places where Bitcoin is treated as an actual unit of account.
The first artwork on display is "New street" by Swiss artist Beat Streuli (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_Streuli).

For a site like this, trust is a very important issue. I can definitely vouch for the guys running the site (Valentin Ruhry & Andy Boot). I know both of them personally, they are real professionals who are committed to making this project a success for the customer as well as the participating artists.

If you have any questions, let me know. I'll try to answer them or get the site owner involved.
For more information about the project, see the press release: http://cointemporary.com/press_release.pdf

Im not a big fan of art
but I think its about time for art to get involved in the bitcoin industry.

art and btc both based on a same values for the community. Id like to think that btc is on the road like art did few centuries ago.
so I believe its obvious that any kind of art will be using btc and expand its limits.

Interesting website. Only I think it would be beter to also include a euro and/or us dollar price to make it easier to pick a value on the work.
