Hello,

I am a long time lurker, and have finally decided to get more active in the Bitcoin community. I offer web development services and I have a current client located in Canada, who also has access to a US Bank Account, whom is interested in paying me for my services via Bitcoin. I am currently located in Europe but have a bank account in Australia too.

What would you say is thes best, cheapest way to send money through bitcoin). Something reasonably quick, though more importantly cheaper then paypal.

Just send the BTC from your wallet to his it's free although you should pay a small transaction fee to speed the transfer up.

If you are using a signature with a bitcoin address is it best if it is recently generated, rather than the default one?

I don't think it matters but if you generate one and name it and only use that address for certain transactions you know where the BTC came from.

No, it doesn't matter at all.  The old addresses never expire.  The only reason I use new ones is to help keep track of where transactions are coming from, you "Label" the addresses to help.

Sending bitcoins is nearly free and instant. Getting the bitcoins to send is the harder part, either buy them on a currency exchange, sell goods or service for bitcoins (like you are doing), or mine them. The forum has lots of posts about all these subjects, or you can start at the http://bitcoin.it wiki.

Bitcoin is it's own currency, not primarily a means of transferring other currencies. Many here have savings in Bitcoins, as it is both speculative and a hedge against government currency inflation. Plus you can buy stuff with them.

Thank you all for the kind replies. I should have phrased my question a little better.

I am currently aware of how to get bitcoins. In my case the best way for me  is to get them from internet exchanges. However my client isn't very technically gifted. So i was looking for  a method for my client to be able to sign up to an exchange that would have very minimal bank fees and no currency exchange fees which would allow my client to purchase bitcoins. So judging that my client is residing from Canada and has access to a US Bank Account would MtGox be the best option? And Would the transfer be done with a MTGOX redeemable code that can be sent to me or would it be better for my client to transfer the bitcoin amount to my own wallet?

What would you suggest?

Not commenting on the legality and taxes of the transactions, but:

US Bank account -> Dwolla -> MtGox

Then

1. MtGox -> BTC -> You
or
2. MtGox -> MtGox Code -> You

BitInstant will probably work also
