Title: Downclock memory of 7970
Post by: Frizz23 on February 10, 2012, 09:04:03 PM
With Sapphire TriXX or MSI Afterburner I can only downclock the memory to as low as 685MHz.

I have seen in other threads values as low as 150MHz.

Which tools do I have to take to downclock memory so much?

In Trixx you have to disable ULPS (and possibly modify some registry keys).

In Afterburner, you have to edit the MSIAfterburner.cfg file using notepad and cut and paste a EULA sentence in there (unless you use the beta or if the beta has turned into a stable release):

That still doesn't allow you to go any lower.

From what I've seen of people able to go below 685, they're running more than one card.  So just a guess, but us single card users might not be able to go any lower.

Ah, true I was just under the impression it might be limited similar to how my 5970 was.

Tried doing some searches but found nothing beyond mention of how the 7970 underclocks memory to 350mhz when it's not in use.
