I had opened paxum account specifically for this.
I dont see many merchants accepting paxum (like paypal).
Hence, I think I dont have any need for the account.

Any1 knows how to close the account?

My bet is that they (or some user accounts) got hacked, and that the hacker used the money to buy bitcoin.

It just seems a bit too much of a coincidence that they rolled out "security upgrades", forcing me to change my password, at the same time they blocked bitcoin transactions.

Also, I noticed that Paxum allowed me to set a reasonably weak password, one that wouldn't get accepted by many other sites.

I received an e-mail, seems a little strange to have the password reset if they weren't hacked though

This is not true! I use paxum with mtGox and I have no any notifications from paxum support However it's true that they change password because of login security engine upgrade.
