I wish he wasn't anonymous forever but on the other hand if such is his choice I respect it.

I don't feel he should be 'exposed' or forced into anything, but I'd only like him or them to reveal themselves if it was of their own choice and free will. As for whether I want him/them being exposed, I'm not sure and it's a double-edged sword. If he was revealed all of the enigma and mystery surrounding him would instantly dissapear. I imagine it'd be better to remain anonymous ultimately, but I would like to know more about the mysterious creator(s).

He should be anonymous as long as he want to be. Anyone who wants to expose him is an idiot who deserves only fiat ;)

It's surprising his identity hasn't been confirmed by now. I think it is likely Satoshi was a researcher who worked with others and whose identity is likely known or suspected by many of his peers.

One day if bitcoin continues to rise in fame I'm sure his identity will be revealed when someone does a thorough investigation or someone who knows spills the beans.

It will be better for him to remain anonymous, because of threats from tax authorities, hackers, wallet thieves.etc. And I think that it will also be better for us, if he does so. Anti-Bitcoin zealots won't be able to do personal attacks based on the past history.  ;D

I know people are obsessed with finding out who Satoshi is, but it's better if we never find out who he is. Because, none of us know his past history and what ever he has done in the past could bite us in the ass. If he was exposed there would be another obsession. People would try to find any dirt on him. Any competitors would try to find dirt on him. There would be thousands of rumors about Satoshi breaking the law or manipulating the market.

Sometimes it is better not to know.  

Well, I'm very interested in who he is... But I understand why he wants to be anonymous. We can say he is the greatest opponent to banks of all. They would want to get rid of him :( ... I hope he will reveal his identity and have a press conference, but 40 years from now on! We have so many questions  ;D

I think him being exposed would only bring problems to bitcoin, bitcoin is all about anonymity so im cool with inventor to stay anonymous. I just hope nobody will expose him.

Even if everybody would be for his identity revelvation he would not do that for sure...it's called fear of loosing your own life/security.

It should be kept secret until he peafully died...imagine in like 50 years it finally gets revealt  :D

I reckon it's best he remains unknown. Revealing himself could only lead to negative things I think. The press will hound and attack him straight away and constantly on all fronts.

He might have no option to remain annoymous if he's dead.

My favourite theory is that Satoshi Nakamoto is an AI who decided that it needed money, so created a currency ))

Agreed. Even here in Bitcointalk, none of the large holders of Bitcoin has come forward to be identified. People with as little as BTC10 are not revealing themselves due to the threat of robbery and hacks. Then why force Satoshi to come forward?

Forever is a lot of time. I voted "no" because I'd like to know it somewhere after his/their death, and I thing we'll actually know.

Someone would have to know before his death for that to happen though.

This. If he were to be discovered before of that, I would hope that it is through his own will, though.

Part of the Bitcoin magic is  the unknown developer. Knowing the identity will spoil it.

It is like finding out the magic trick, after that it just seems ordinary.

I hope he wrote a book about himself and will published it through the blockchain just before he dies  ;D

Yes, I hope he stays a mystery forever.

I've been corresponding with  a community of crypto people for over 25 years.  "Digital Cash" has been a topic that came up many, many times on the Cypherpunks, on Metzdowd, on Crypto-X, and on half a dozen other haunts where these people hang out.  

I know somebody who might be Satoshi.  I mean, I know somebody who had the skills, who had the political will and curiosity, who had the time right about then to do what Satoshi did, and who had personal ...  I think "Motivation" is one word for it but it's a very pale one considering the specific circumstances.  

And this same person had no immediate need for the money Satoshi hasn't spent, and very limited opportunities to have spent it since, both because of previous work that he's done.  And Satoshi has done things, or not done things, several times at specific moments when this person had compelling reasons for his schedule to be stressed.  

And you know what?  Satoshi's anonymous, and I totally respect that choice and I'm never going to put a specific name to my suspicion for as long as we're both alive.  

I think Satoshi is NSA or something like this.
In many countries there is trend to get rid of cash.
Many ppl don't like whole "money printing" idea.
So some government had this idea: let's create digital gold to cater for those who don't like printing money.
And during the proccess... they printed even more money.
Result: users are happy, government is happy - win-win situation.
There was some stagnation, not enough money printed so they started whole Cyprus to pump BTC, mtgox bots did the rest.
Yes, I would like Satoshi to come back and reveal his identity.
But I'm 99% sure he won't.
I think there should be some bounty for his "head". And I mean like 1000 or 2000 BTC.

I hope he stays anonymous as long as he wants to. I would be curious if he ever did come forward but I doubt the man would live up to the god like status we have bestowed on him.

It's better for him to stay anon. He has a ton of BTC. I would keep quiet too, but at the same time I'm sure we all wish we knew who he was

Not really. The currency has taken flight and Satoshi is more famous than the rest of the devs just because he is unknown. Even if he is revealed , the currency will stay afloat.

However , he will have a lot of problems to face.

He'd probably get into trouble with most governments if BTC starts superseding fiat.
And he'd suddenly be chased down by everyone , he has nearly a billion $ worth of Bitcoin.

There is absolutely nothing that will be further gained from knowing who Satoshi is, other than satisfy your curiosity.

But on the other hand, if his real identity is revealed, there is a potential for every government to have him arrested.

Safety would be a big issue. He would never be able to live a normal life. That is why I hate Newsweek and what they did to Dorian Nakamodo.

It will be good if he will anonymous forever, I really dont think if he reveal his Identity it will much impact on Bitcoin Communities.

Doubt the government would do something so sensible as return to honest money.
Why would they put money in the hands of value producers when they can print money?

i reiterate.. if you guys hail satoshi as some forefather of the bitcion movement, and love him profusely, why would you choose to go against his wishes (which is to remain anonymous)? doesn't make sense to me.

Secret services have been very busy with dragnet surveillance lately,basically they want to own all the data, any time, anywhere.  I do not think 'a decentralized money system' fits right in with that.

Oooor bitcoin is some kind of secret experiment and or project where our mining machines are helping NSA to break codes / passwords they need to break. Basicly, they created bitcoin so it can become largest supercomputer on the world for cracking passwords  ::)

I just asked her who is Satoshi Nakimoto , and she has no idea what im talking about.

I think that it is best that satoshi's identity remains hidden to the world, at least while he continues to live his life.

Can you imagine the attention that he would get, both positive and negative. It wouldn't be safe for him, and I think that it would lessen bitcoin's worth investment-wise, certainly in the short-term.

It's better if satoshi stay anonymous until bitcoin reach maturity and mass adoption, what happen next is irrelevant.

Recently with the recent Newsweek debacle I've seen a lot of people clammering to find the identity of the real Satoshi, I for one think that this sort of mindset is completely irrelevant (considering they just set up the technology and left it at that) but is also directly against there wishes. If Satoshi wanted you to know who they were surely they would have out and said it, they went to such great extents to remain anonymous for a reason.

 I'm personally more fond of the idea that Satoshi could be anyone, from a big executive to the guy who bought a few milibits with his spare cash, and to be honest, I'de prefer it stayed that way.

If he wants to stay anonymous then that's his own right and nosy people should just fuck off, it's like these creepy fuckers who think they have some kind of god-given right to go through peoples' communications, homes and finances and they'll only stop until they find something they like the look of or somebody gets in their way.

Anyway, Satoshi has no more control over bitcoin than Garzik at this point, you can look at the source code.
