Title: StockBet.com - Bet on stocks with Bitcoin

Welcome to the world's first and only place where you can bet on stocks with Bitcoin (or play for free with our Chips).

Why play StockBet (http://stockbet.com)™?

  • Win up to 100% profit on your bets (minus commission):  If you trade stocks, the share price needs to go up by 100% for you to make 100%.
  • Social Competition:  People care more about winning or losing $100 in football pools than winning or losing $1,000 in their stock portfolios. This is because of social competition, which enables players to banter and share a laugh. With StockBet, players can have the same kind of fun with stocks as they do with sports.
  • Training:  People try to learn how to invest or trade with make-believe portfolios. However, the most important thing to learn, which is not taught and cannot be taught by any school, software or blog, is controlling your fear and greed emotions. These emotions do not exist with make-believe portfolios. You must have money at stake. Trying to learn with thousands of dollars in trading accounts is too expensive with potentially large losses. StockBet enables you to learn cheaply.
  • IPOs:  Betting on initial public offerings (IPOs) used to be exclusive, available only to the one percent on Wall Street or The City. Now, StockBet lets the small guys bet on the big name IPOs as well, such as GoPro or Alibaba.
  • Trading Accounts:  Stop paying trading fees just to bet.  Avoid the lengthy sign up process, with multiple pieces of identification, to open a trading account.
  • Shorting:  It is difficult for bears to make bets on the stock market. Shorting is for the privileged, is expensive and not always possible to do. To short, the stock must be available to borrow and then you need to pay interest.  With StockBet, it's easy and cheap.

StockBet™ is bringing liberty and freedom to the world, by letting people bet on stocks and initial public offerings (IPOs) with as little as 0.001 Bitcoin.

More and more brands, such as Google, Apple and Microsoft, are becoming global. Billions of users know them well. Many are bullish or bearish but cannot place bets on them, because they cannot open trading accounts or do not live in the West. Now they can.

Betting on stocks used to be onerous or a privilege. It was onerous to deposit and withdraw fiat currencies on gambling sites. It was a privilege reserved for people with thousands of dollars, pounds or euros, with access to brokerage accounts and willing to pay a trading fee per bet. The privileged could easily bet on stocks like Facebook and Twitter but many, especially people outside of Western countries, could not.

You no longer need to go through torturous deposits or withdrawals.  You no longer need to have thousands of dollars to play the stock market. You no longer need to live in the West. You no longer need to be oppressed by brokerage regimes and trading fees.  Stockbet™ is liberating you. Pick a stock, make a bet, challenge your friends. StockBet™ – making the stock market fun.

For more information about StockBet.com, to contact us or to start playing, visit: http://StockBet.com.

StockBet's first game is BullBear (http://stockbet.com/#/BullBear/welcome), which lets players bet against each other on whether a stock, ETF or index will go up or down.  Players can pick a stock or ETF from the thousands on the New York, London and Toronto stock exchanges, or they can bet on any of the major indices:  Dow Jones, Nasdaq, S&P500, FTSE (London), CAC (Paris), DAX (Frankfurt) and TSX.  For more info, please see BullBear FAQs (http://stockbet.com/#/BullBear/round_rules).

The following is a screenshot of the BullBear Public Rounds:

The following is a screenshot of the BullBear round for GoPro's IPO day:

The following is a screenshot of the BullBear round for Alibaba's upcoming IPO day:

Note:  We do provide London based stocks, European indices (FTSE, DAX and CAC), Toronto based stocks and the TSX index.  Therefore, you will see UK, French, German and Canadian flags on our site as well.  It just happens that the examples above are stocks trading in New York.  (Alibaba is a Chinese company, but will be floating in New York.)

Yes, we've noticed the discussion on this forum about Coinbet. This is unfortunate. We thought that Bitcoin and all of these "provably fair" sites will elevate the trust.

We could be wrong, but maybe not all of them were scams from the onset. Maybe the following are possible factors that caused the casino and poker operators to loosen their integrity or ethics:
- Since most of those sites use software from the same vendors, they needed to differentiate and they probably had a lot of pressure to do so because there are so many operators. One of the areas where they can differentiate, was to offer bigger bonuses, vouchers, etc. This caused many people to take the offers but they didn't play the games after they took advantage of the offers. Maybe some scammed or hacked the operators. When the operator realized that they offered too much and it was a losing business model, they might have pushed back too hard (or tried to be revengeful?).
-  Another area to differentiate, was to offer bigger jackpots, hoping to attract more players but also hoping that no players won it because they didn't have enough to cover. Maybe the operator had full intention of running a business, but after a player won the jackpot, the operator decided to reneg or fold shop.
-  Even with provably fair games, if the players are betting against the house, some houses are going to be unlucky and lose.  When the operator loses, the operator didn't have enough integrity to accept the losses.

Again, the above are just guesses as we do not know the true story behind each of the situations.

I know that it'll take time for people to trust our site, since we're new. Here are a few things you should know:
-  We built our software. We don't need to differentiate from the casino, poker and sport sites.
-  Players do not bet against the house at StockBet.com, so we do not offer jackpots.
-  We do not offer bonuses or vouchers.
-  We don't need Bitcoin or Blockchain to show that we are "provably fair". Players can check the stock market to verify the stock price.
-  For security, we keep bitcoins offline in cold storage.
-  We want our users to get two benefits, not just the one potential benefit of winning money. We want them to have fun as well.
-  We have two objectives, not just the one objective of making a profit. Some of us are former professionals from the stock market. The stock market is very interesting and can be exciting, but this excitement is limited to the one percent or the people in the West who have thousands of dollars to trade. We want to bring this to everyone. When Facebook went public with their IPO, thousands of people around the world were bantering and debating about it. Some claimed that it will go to the moon. Some claimed that investors will get a faceplant or get Zuckered. These people were from all corners of the world, but they couldn't elevate the excitement by putting money on it. Only the one percent of the one percent who had inside connections to investment bankers on Wall Street were able to. We are trying to enable everyone to get in on the excitement. If we can accomplish this and enable them to have fun, we will accomplish our profit objective.

We know that you and players have to trust us because you need to deposit before making bets. Hopefully, we can gain your trust over time. In the meantime, we encourage you to play with the free Chips...or take a small risk, such as betting with BTC0.001. We do not encourage that you immediately withdraw your money after the round is over, as withdrawals can cost us on transaction fees, but if you feel the need to do so, then please do.

What about Facebook?  How do I invite friends?

That's easy.  Go to the round details page of any round and you will see two Facebook icons.  Click on them.  If you did not sign into StockBet.com with Facebook, then you will be prompted at this point to log into your Facebook account.  One icon enables you to share StockBet on your Facebook timeline.  The other icon enables you to invite specific Facebook friends to that round.

Also, you can click on the Facebook Like and Share buttons at the bottom of any page.

Yes, after your friends have joined StockBet, you should follow them.  You can do this by finding them first on the Dashboard and clicking on Follow.

Then, when you are in the "BullBear" game, you can click on "New Round".  Here you can pick your stock, ETF or index.  There are two buttons:  Public Round, Private Round.  Select Private Round.

After you have hosted the new round, go to the Round Details page.  On the right column, you will your friends that you followed.  Click on the + button for each of your friends that you want to invite to your round.

Sorry I don't quite understand this site. IMHO the original post has to much promotional "fluff" material and not enough "this is how it works" type of information (do x then y happens and the result is z).

Does the following explain how it works?

First someone opens a bet saying market x will increase/decrease in value over y amount of time then someone else bets against that outcome.  Winner takes all minus commission?

If this is the case it's sort of like binary options (with better roi potential 100% vs 70%) except traders bet against other traders instead of the house. This = mucho awesomeness!

On the other hand if it's more like real world trading where if price increases say 1% you win or lose 1%. Not so awesome...

Good feedback and good question.

We will update the promotional material with the following answer to your question:

Our BullBear game is like your first description.  It is similar to binary options, plus social competition.  I'm not sure what you mean by "100% vs 70%".  Maybe you can elaborate.

The potential ROI can be 100% minus house cut.  The players bet against each other instead of the house and the house takes a cut from the losing bet.  Here is more info on how it works:

Someone (any player or StockBet) hosts a round by picking:
  • Stock, Index or ETF
  • Start and End dates (duration)
Then anyone (including the host) can enter a bet by picking/entering:
  • Bull or Bear (betting that it will go up or down)
  • Currency (Bitcoin or free Chips)
  • Amount of Bet

The 100% return (less house cut) applies if the total amount of Bull bets equal the total amount of Bear bets.  If they are different, then the potential winnings are different.  Please click on the following link to get details on how this is calculated:

BullBear FAQs (https://stockbet.com/#/BullBear/round_rules)
(If you've been to StockBet.com before, please refresh your browser)  At this webpage, scroll down to "HOW DO YOU CALCULATE POTENTIAL WIN/LOSS?"

Please do not hesitate to ask any other questions or provide more feedback.

Hopefully, we'll see you play a few rounds.

IPOs have been on fire.

There have been 182 initial public offerings (IPOs) in New York this year, so far.  There were 213 in total in 2007.  Many of them are small, obscure companies.  Some of them were very big, such as GoPro.

However, you cannot bet on an IPO share because you cannot buy or short the share on IPO day, unless you're connected with the underwriter, investment banker or broker.

With StockBet (http://stockbet.com), you can bet on IPOs.  If you know of a IPO that you want to play, let us know and we'll ensure that it's added to the database.

Alibaba is going to have their IPO (initial public offering) soon.  It could be the biggest IPO in history.

More merchandise was sold on Alibaba in 2013 than on Amazon and eBay combined.

Unless you have connections with the underwriter of the IPO, investment banker or broker with access to the IPO shares, you cannot play IPOs.  Now you can bet on them at StockBet.

Join in the bet on whether Alibaba's share price will go up or down on IPO day:

The U.S. government bailed out AIG during the financial crisis, with $85 billion.

The former CEO of AIG is suing the U.S. government for this.

Has he gone bonkers, or does he have a case???  The trial started on Monday.  Will this be good or bad for AIG's stock.  Make your bet:

Note, in almost all metrics, AIG's stock is already very undervalued and dirt cheap.  Plus, they repaid the government fully, with a $22 billion profit to taxpayers.

OPEC has called a bottom to oil and sees it going to $200.

Believe them?

"Now the prices are around $45-$55, and I think maybe they have reached the bottom and we will see some rebound very soon."

"if you don't invest in oil and gas, you will see more than $200" when it comes to future oil prices..."
