Title: bobsag3-Minersource.net-[Update]
Post by: lightlord on June 05, 2014, 10:47:46 AM
Update: I received a 0.85 BTC refund + given another 50 boards to be shipped, if 50% works, this is a good resolution. Negative trust removed, etc.

Conclusion: 40 boards hashes, 30 boards are completely dead nothing, no lights, no fan, zero, nil. Other 6 powers on, doesn't mine, doesn't get detected
by controllers, so assume these are faulty. Out of 40 hashing boards, I should expect 1.6 TH, or 40GH * 40, but in reality I get 1.3TH due to so many errors
and bad boards. I tried Pming him a while ago, about compensation but got no response, not even a word. So probably seeing no refund or anything.

*Supecting some from shipping damage, bad packaging, boards on top of boards, not enough insulation in between them.
Some bubble wrapping on the bottom, you needed to fill the entire box to the top with Foam peanuts, but there wasn't any.
This explains why a big chunk have damaged pins.

I recently made a purchase off this thread, and I gotten 75, but it seems some chips are melted, many are faulty.
The melted one I haven't even touched or turned on yet, came out of its package like that.

Also it seems a lot of fans are black or melted on the underside, it seems the melted stickers or black, are boards
that probably overheated, while the non black melted fans seem okay.

A lot of fans were barely working into I oiled them, and it was working again.

A big chunk of em don't even start or work to begin with. Only some works.

Also the packaging wasn't good enough, a lot of pins were bent on the underside.

This is fresh out of the box, damaged pins, or bent.
Not good packing package at all.

Burned fans.

I will remove this thread, or mark not a scam once this gets dealt with, and I get the appropriate refunds.

Those have definitely been used before being shipped to you, not just tested but mined the fuck out of. Most likely until they pop. Judging from the melted plastic covering some of the chips along with burnt wires, they have been ran until the units pop, then shipped to you. I would not be surprised if a few of those do not even work anymore.

Bent pins, piercing through the package. Packing material was inadequate for this shipment.

Update: 7 out of 40 boards tested so far works. Some boards came with the heat sink detached,
which fallen out and damaged things in the package.

Seeing this makes me regret that I didn't troll him into the ground like I should have after his failed attempt to sell me (and others) some BEs last year.

I've been informed that Matt Carson is bobsag3/borito4. Give me a few so I can confirm this info.

BUMP

I ordered 3 of these from him. I just took a close look at them. 2 of them have bent pins but nothing major and I should be able to straighten them. I need to power them up but I think one the fans maybe toast as it doesn't spin real well but that's a pretty cheap part to replace. All of the chips themselves look fine to me though.

My problem isn't the bent pins or a possible fan issue. It was a total lack of communication after I sent him the btc. I sent him a couple of PM's plus posted in his for sale thread. There were a couple of others complaining about that too. I had no idea if they had been sent or not until I got an email from UPS giving me the delivery date and that it was from Colorado. All I wanted was a PM saying he got the bitcoin and let me know when he was going to ship them. I don't that's expecting too much.

I still need to get my hands on a controller board though to verify that work.

Its time to get back to work.

Maco and I have been talking on the phone while I have been in the process of moving and we have even more people on board now to help improve 42. This is a very exciting time to be a part of 42.

We are always looking for talented individuals who want to help. If you have a talent that we can use and want to be a part of the 42 team please PM Maco or Myself.

There are alot of new and exciting things happening with 42, way more than we could ever have imagined when we initially launched.
None of this would be possible without you, the investor, the miner, the consumer. A coin is nothing without a community behind it.

Haven't updated the thread yet, but bobsag3 hasn't responded to any PM yet.

I have now the figure of how many dead and alive atm.

46 Boards power on, About 40 boards are able to mine successfully.

I should get 40*40 or 1.6 TH but I actually get 1.3 TH due to many boards having hardware errors,
and bad chips. So its even worse for me. I will never ROI on my BTC Investment.

So 30 Boards are completely dead, doesn't power on, no lights, no spin up, nothing.
I should get a refund but I don't think bobsag3 will be refunding me, which makes me lose
faith in humanity  :(

The other 5 that doesn't mine powers on, but doesn't get detected by the bitfury controller so might as well call these dead too.

I made the mistake, of not using escrow, when he said he done millions of dollars of sales and doesn't do escrow, I did find out
minersouce.net, and then thought well If he's running an asic reseller store I doubt he would scam me for a few BTC.
So I taken the bite, and sent the BTC thinking it was the best investment I ever made. Then sooner then later finding
out that over half of these boards are completely Dead! And he Ignores my PM! I talk about compensation through PM, and he doesn't respond!

Do you think if I tried baking the dead ones in the oven for 7-8 mins to re solder the board that it may save a few?
Or any way of fixing, or at least attempting on the non powering ones?

Thanks
Lightlord

Baking is worth a shot if you can handle the fumes and the detox the oven will need.

Or.. buy a cheap toaster oven. lol

Update: A resolution and a deal.

I was offered 0.85 BTC refund + another 50 boards shipped, so if 50% success rate, that is pretty resonable.
I received the refund, so that's good. Negative trust removed, and updated.

Thanks.

He's managed to hijack the dyslexiczombie group buys for BlackArrow as their reseller, has $2k of my money that's looking less and less likely to ever materialise as hardware from Black Arrow (Should of shipped end of Feb). Now he's pursuaded one of the DZ guys to join him (thomas_s) in the reseller. So there is nobody in the group buy anymore that really represents the interests of the people they took money from! sux...
