Post by: matthewh3 on February 15, 2012, 04:12:03 PM
I've just been made an admin of http://www.coinconnect.org/ (http://www.coinconnect.org/)  8) check it out it's a cool site and idea.  It's a social network for Bitcoiners.

I encourage your enthusiasm, but I would prefer to keep my bitcoin discussions on Facebook so that others can continue to hear about what I have to say.

What info would you say I am missing by not registering with your new site coinconnect?

CoinConnect is new and has had a slow start because it was plagued by spammers but now I'm on the job.  It only has about 180 members at the moment but I'm hoping it will really start to grow now its not flooded by spam.  Check it out - http://www.coinconnect.org/ (http://www.coinconnect.org/)

Also with it being a Bitcoin social network you'll be a lot more likely and more easily find other Bitcoiner's interested in the same Bitcoin topics as you then you would on Facebook.

How about depersonalized market data?

That's something that Facebook brings to the table.

Maybe you could ask people to put in their city/state/country & or US Zip code. and approximate balance of BTC.

This could be very valuable to marketplaces trying to make the business case for shops to start accepting BTC.

And that would definitely get me to join.

I don't think it should show your balance and people are starting to create regional groups for people to join.

Why not?  are people afraid of letting others know how many bitcoins they own?  I for one am proud to say I have 200+ bitcoins...

How about just saying whether people have 100+ or less than 100?

I'm really just trying to continue building market data so that we can help justify the business case for brick & mortar stores in various marketplaces.

Alternatively, we can setup forums like Bruno's where he keeps track of each situation separately.

It's like Facebook have a section for your earnings on your profile.  It's not a dating website and would attract scammers.
