Title: Is anyone setting up a group buy of S2 miners
Post by: bellgarath1 on June 06, 2014, 10:36:46 PM
I am looking to buy a couple of S2 ant miners.  Was told there is/was a group buy about the middle of last month for the S2's, and more then likely again this month.

would this also be for the s2 kit?

I am considering setting on up for the kits. It would depend on demand and what bitmain are able to supply at what price. What kind of price and quantity would everyone want?

i don't think the kit would gain much traction. but, the s2 should be in $1500 range for a group buy. last price was 1650

I just got an S2 kit in yesterday, pretty nice if you already have a better PSU than they ship anyway. I'd probably be interested in another if they got down around $1500 as the last guy mentioned, but it'd take a while to raise the coin.

I'd be interested in buying a few too

Title: Re: Is anyone setting up a group buy of S2 miners

with dwindling prices of USD/BTC and increasing difficulty, i thought bitmain would reduce their prices of the S2. just too expensive. should be near $1.1/gH/s soon

Title: Re: Is anyone setting up a group buy of S2 miners
Post by: bellgarath1 on June 12, 2014, 06:03:54 PM
I'll get in contact with Bitmain to see what I can do.

For the record, you guys want to throw out a number of how many S2s you're willing to purchase and/or interested in?

The bigger the number the better leverage I'll have to work with as far as organizing and getting a better deal for everyone.

The last group buy set up by 112.org was 1600 and the price of the miners were 2600.
So 1200 on 150 units is what I would hope or less.

great, thanks Waldohoover for taking the lead on this. I think price around 1300-1400 for June delivery of at least 100+ would be small victory :)

Sorry for a bit off topic:
What about doing group buy, but using shares (backed by physical miners = shares entitles you to part of miner/s) here ? We can get more fellow miners (actually selling smaller part of whole miners available), thus buying more miners and get better price at the end. What do you guys think ?

I mean Waldohoover is respected member here and have experience with group and "shares" buy offers and responsibly running&supporting them - what do you think about this Waldohoover ? Would you have time for this ?

Even better would be to take small portions of profit per month and reinvest on monthly (or 2month) basis in best $/gh/w miner/s ready to be shipped at that time, thus increasing the total hashrate and in case of no longer profitable miners sell them and divide the profit (aka liquidate the shares). I mean - happy hashing of community managed by trusted members of community :) I guess it will be possible to broker a good deal with some of respected hosters around here (at those numbers of miners we are talking about, there would be mutual benefit for both sides - us (shareholders, profit from low hosting/power prices) and hosters (long term profit)).
Thanks for reading and happy mining to all!

Great news! Well what about share buy of one of XBTec 0.5PH+ oil cooled miner ?  just kidding ;)

Well if Bitmain wont be interested, Jacks LAs new 1TH miners (should survive transport) might be a possibility, if he would be willing to sell at reasonable price. Or once Dogie review XBTec new Pacific miner, that might be a good buy - but probably we wont be able to secure delivery from their 1st batch.

Anyway, looking forward to this deal.
Thanks and GL all.

Any idea how Bitmain is going to approach the low-cost upgrade of the S2 in the future?

Not a problem, I haven't made a formal announcement but looks like I penned a deal on new office/warehouse space to reduce fees of my future and current fees.

With that being said, I am definitely open to a GB to break down shares per miner if people want to just get their feet wet. Again, expected fees and charges will be cut by a substantial amount compared to my previous/current fees.

I've shot a couple emails to Bitmain regarding the situation and offer but haven't heard back. I've referenced the thread to show some initial interest so hopefully I can hear back soon.

Additionally, I'd love to also start offering local pickup at the new office, since the majority of miners will be in an undisclosed location. :) Sometimes seeing a face when doing deals like this is the reassurance people need to do future purchases, so I'm def open to everything and anything that makes sense. :)

Thanks Waldohoover. Can't wait.

Just so you know, there is a scammer who has set up an account looking like yours:  wald0hoover
and is sending out this PM:

Hi guys,

I have had a price back from Bitmain regarding the group buy you all expressed an interest in-

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=642586.0

Current price inc. express shipping - 2.62 BTC.

Why trust me?

profile -

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=101143

here you can see all the previous group buys I have run -

https://www.google.com/cse?cx=016660200577587308545%3Aesf40ml9aag&ie=UTF-8&q=waldohoover&sa=Google+search#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=waldohoover&gsc.page=1

Payment address -

After payment I will need the transaction I.D, your shipping address and how many units you have ordered.

We need to move quickly on this in order for Bitmain to honour the price quoted.

Thanks,

waldohoover

Was hoping 112.org would setup another group buy.

The ppl that have posted here are at least like 50units

I would like in for 6 to 8 units depending on price and when they can be delivered as well. If price is in 12-1300 range could go as high as 12 of them. Thanks Waldohoover for putting the work in on this.

Wondering what you are charging for S2 hosting.
thanks,

Well, in theory I offer hosting services so this could be a physical unit and/or hosting along with it if that was needed.

With that said, I'm in talks with Bitmain regarding getting an S2 GB going and they are actually more interested in working with me on a next-gen product.  :o  :-X

I know that's not the news everyone was wanting to hear regarding the S2s but I'm still trying to work something out with Bitmain to help out all of you guys who have been replying and contacting me directly.

I'm going to begin tallying everyone's interest and will post more in here/or start a new thread.
