Title: Need help to test if my servers are up or if I'm being blocked[FIXED]
Post by: Nefario on April 24, 2011, 01:51:19 PM
I need to know can anyone else ping and get a ssh prompt for the servers below.

glbse.com
dev.glbse.com

I'm able to go to them in the browser, and was working on them but suddenly got cut off and can't get back into either of them.

Let me know if you can do any of the above and your country.

I have a feeling that the government here has just blocked my servers.

I can ping from South Korea with no problems.

I don't know how to do the ssh thing.

I can SSH (from the UK) to glbse.com, but not to dev.glbse.com

glbse.com is black market exchange & works.

But dev.glbse.com shows this

Note: You can safely remove this file from its default location at /var/www and replace it with your own, or configure the server to have the Web root elsewhere in your path.

I've just tried again (from the UK) and can now SSH into both of them.

Oh, and can access both of them from one of my servers in the US too.

Thanks for the help guys.

The issue was a combination of sshd freezing on one server, and the network here being very congested so as not to get a connection to the other server(for a good while).

I started to panic an thought that the government was blocking ssh, they're blocking more and more vpn services so I thought why not.

No problem  :)

Have you thought about running SSH on a different port?  I quite often have it running on port 443 which is usually used for HTTPS and therefore open on most firewalls.  Or you could pick some other port like 2222.

Uptime Party (http://www.uptimeparty.com) can check SSH.
