Hi guys,
I was checking the Bitmixer website and they say:

"Using the BitMixer code means that a user’s previous coins will not be used in further mixing operations.
Our problem is solved – every user continues to remain anonymous and private."

How is that possible?

I mean how can one track that coins or even portions of it once belonged to xxxxxxx?

After your first transaction, they assign you a code that you enter into the website for all subsequent transactions. Which seriously calls into question whether this is a viable mixing solution, because that internal code becomes a perfect indicator of taint for anybody who access to their system. If anything, this is even worse than not mixing at all, because totally unrelated addresses that have never contributed outputs to the same tx can be associated by anyone who has access to their records concerning that code.

I would not recommend ever using a service like this whatsoever when there are excellent trustless mixing services available, for example the mixing integrated right into Blockchain.

I am a relatively new BTC guy interested in the mixing services as well.  I have used both bitmixer.io (http://bitmixer.io) and sharedcoin.com (http://sharedcoin.com) both about eight times each.  In most cases, I ran some BTC through BOTH services to help better erase taint.  I believe (but not being an expert, do not KNOW) that using BOTH services did indeed cover up the trail "good enough" for at least casual trackers (both used an intermediary wallet, so the Blockchain did NOT ID either the sending nor receiving wallet best I could tell).

I too would be interested in learning more about either bitmixer and/or sharedcoin.

Also, a few days ago, someone new here noted their new service: bitimix.com (http://bitimix.com).  Any comments on them (or any other respected mixing service) would be much appreciated too!
