Title: [WTS] - Blockchain on a USB stick Post by: AmDD on June 10, 2014, 10:42:10 PM Ive seen this mentioned a number of times but never saw anyone start selling them, so I'll do it!
I am selling a copy of the blockchain on a 32GB USB 3.0 stick. The current Bitcoin blockchain is about 21GB which is a fair amount to download if you have a slower connection or a connection that has a monthly cap. There are other wallets you can use that do not require the entire blockchain but if you would like to stick to the original Bitcoin Core wallet this is for you. Plus you get a nice 32GB USB 3 drive. I only have a few full blockchains at the moment but can download more if there is demand. Bitcoin Litecoin Feathercoin Primecoin Dogecoin Vertcoin The price is $30 (~.0459BTC) for a single blockchain and $3 (~.0046BTC) for each additional blockchain added to that drive (until the drive is full). Shipping to the US is included, international will be extra. So if you wanted all 6 listed above it would total $45 (~.0689BTC) shipped. I will accept BTC, LTC, FTC, XMP, or Vert. One question Im sure I'll get is "How do I know there is no virus on this stick?" My only answer is "Give me a way to prove to you it is clean and I'll try and make it happen." My computer is clean and free of virus/malware, it is a fairly fresh install of Windows with an up to date virus protection. Ive been a member here on this forum for nearly 2 years, I realize this does not give me a lot of credit but its something. If you are interested PM me what blockchain you want, a shipping address and what crypto you want to use. I'll reply with a payment address and will let you know when it ships. Thanks AmDD Title: Re: [WTS] - Blockchain on a USB stick Post by: BawsyBoss on June 11, 2014, 02:37:39 AM Heck I would buy these for the USBs in bulk. $3 for each subsequent USB?
Sounds like I may have read something wrong. Title: Re: [WTS] - Blockchain on a USB stick Post by: AmDD on June 11, 2014, 02:40:34 AM No, $3 for each additional blockchain on the stick. I'll edit the post to make that more clear. :)

Title: Re: [WTS] - Blockchain on a USB stick Post by: Kluge on June 20, 2014, 08:57:50 PM As someone who can only barely keep up with the blockchain's current growth, I was actually thinking of offering this for a while, but obviously have limitations which'd make that pretty difficult. :D Good on you for taking initiative. One of my greatest fears is ending up with a corrupt blockchain I need to re-download from scratch, so it's nice to know there's somewhere to turn if that happens.
Title: Re: [WTS] - Blockchain on a USB stick Post by: ezimedia on June 21, 2014, 02:46:04 AM what happens once the btc blockchain gets to like 100gig or so... how can a new user download such a large file... I think is may stop some people using bitcoin... so the online wallet services will become more of an option....

Thanks! My biggest issue I think is proving that the stick is virus free. If anyone has a suggestion on that let me know, otherwise it will just have to be trust. I only have a 1mb DSL connection at home so I hated redownloading the block chain. I assumed others were in the same situation, which is why I decided to offer this. I do have access to a 50mb connection if I need to get other chains or anything. You can by the block chain on an external hard drive from me! :) Or there are other clients that don't require the full chain, or some compression, or something. There are options being discussed about this. Title: Re: [WTS] - Blockchain on a USB stick Post by: AmDD on July 31, 2014, 04:47:07 PM Forgive me i have no clue about that but why buy that on usb ? ??? No problem. Its because the file size of the Bitcoin blockchain is currently 23GB. In order to send any bitcoin this needs to be downloaded (for some wallets). Rather than waiting days, possibly weeks depending on your internet connection, I offer to ship it to your door on a USB stick. Id have to get a larger USB drive as the blockchain will not fit on a 32Gb drive anymore.
