Title: Buying OEM cards in bulk from distributors Post by: not_mm on April 25, 2011, 09:43:12 AM Does anybody have experience buying graphics cards in bulk from distributors (Ingram, Avnet, etc) as an individual customer? I am talking $15,000 or more. Preferably in OEM/non-retail packaging.

Title: Re: Buying OEM cards in bulk from distributors Post by: TenthReality on April 25, 2011, 12:12:12 PM Poor, I had a 25% DOA rate on the cards, getting replacements was a nightmare from the vendor (TechData) while setting up a GPU render farm for a client.
After multiple shipping cost related things, my end profit going this route was < 1%, and thats not even budgeting for the time loss dealing with everything. Not a route I will go in the future, retailing the cards from somewhere local that i could have just driven over and replaced a card would have gone far better. |
