Title: [Ticket Price: 0.01BTC] Bitcoin Raffle! Try your luck! [Free Tickets]
Post by: Mitchell on June 12, 2014, 09:27:16 AM

Hello everyone!
I, with the help of Escrow.ms (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=76380), will be holding a Bitcoin Raffle!

Information
  • End date is one week from now, 19-06-2014, at 20:00 (UTC+1). After that you cannot buy tickets.
If you buy a ticket after the end date, you won't receive anything.
  • Draw will be done on 20-06-2014, around 22:00 (UTC+1).
  • Escrow will be done with Escrow.ms (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=76380) using Bit2Factor.org (https://bit2factor.org/).
  • Every ticket costs 0.01BTC, every 0.1BTC will be rewarded with 1 free ticket.
  • You get a free ticket if someone buys at least 5 tickets and if they use your name as referral in the form.
Full Member or higher only. This is to prevent abuse of the reward system
  • The winners will be picked using Random.org (http://random.org). I will stream the picking so that everybody can be certain that what I do is fair. A link to the stream will be posted at least half an hour before the draw.
If you have multiple tickets, your name will be entered multiple times.
  • I will keep 1% of the winnings for organizing this raffle, keeping it running and to pay for the transaction fee.

Prices
  • First price: 50% of the total amount collected (minus the fee)
  • Second price: 37.5% of the total amount collected (minus the fee)
  • Third price: 12.5% of the total amount collected (minus the fee)

Buying tickets
If you want to participate in this raffle, send 0.01BTC or multiples of this amount to <a href="https://blockchain.info/address/1GoHH1nahJrHmhiFR5GDJgeC6RoeLPxFm2">1GoHH1nahJrHmhiFR5GDJgeC6RoeLPxFm2</a> (http://blockchain.info/address/1GoHH1nahJrHmhiFR5GDJgeC6RoeLPxFm2).
If you send 0.02BTC you will get 2 tickets, 0.12BTC will get you 13 tickets and 0.059BTC will get you 5 tickets. Always double check your amount before sending it!

What time is the draw going to be exactly and how is the draw via random.org going to be verifiable? What's to stop you filming multiple times until you get a favourable result?

It's in the post:

I will put a clock next to my screen which will proof that no editing has been done. Or I use Twitch or something like that. Whatever people prefer.

That says end date not raffle is drawn at that time. Can people buy a ticket a few seconds before you're about to do the draw? There should probably be a cut off point for entries and a separate draw time shortly after. And a clock doesn't prove anything in this instance. It's not editing of the video that is a concern really. You could match the live draw time up with a official online clock of some sort I suppose.

I will clarify that, thank you for pointing out. I will just do a livestream of the event so people know for sure that I can't cheat and do it fairly. That should do, correct?

EDIT: Is this better? It is my first raffle after all. :)

Yeah, looks much better now  :D. I wasn't insinuating you would cheat it or anything, but I personally wouldn't be comfortable participating unless the draw was verifiably fair and couldn't be manipulated easily. Best to cover all your bases before as otherwise you're likeky to have a few sore losers complaining after as well  ;D.

Ah good good. I am glad that it's better now. And I know you didn't mean something like that, but asking questions and covering all bases is a good thing, so thank you for helping out ;)

I think you get a free ticket if you buy 10 or 1 if 5 people buy them through your referral link.

Exactly. That is the only way to get free tickets ;D

Why on earth you would want to put a referral down I have no idea. Surely that would lessen the probability of you winning, as they would be getting a free ticket.

Eh, nice raffle... but I doubt you'd get a lot of attention unless you decrease the ticket prices to 0.001 BTC or something like that, I'm sure that more people would participate (including me! :D)

If I don't get any interest in this raffle I will start a new one after 19-6 with a decreased Ticket Price ;)

I think you'd get more attention if there was a fixed price prize. A percentage of zero or not a lot is never appealing. Make it a fixed price and state you need x amount of ticket sales before the raffle is valid, if not, it's void and any money collected will be returned.

Will do that next time! I don't like changing rules while the raffle itself is already in progress. Thanks for the tips!

Prices are "minus the fee" but I can't find anywhere how big fee you take.
So how big fee do you take?
