Title: Common abbrevitions used in the forum
Post by: gondel on June 12, 2014, 07:03:30 PM
Hello,
I am posting this, because Me myself didnt know most of the abbreviations used in the forums before and was very difficult to understand what sometimes someone is meaning and was very hard to find in google what this abbreviation means ( Like OP, i didnt know what was the meaning of it :D :D)
So here it is a site which shows most of the forum abbreviations:

http://www.chatslang.com/terms/web_forums

Hope this can help the community, not only for new forum members, but also for members who didnt use a forum before , because i am sure there is a lot of you who are newbies and dont know this things ( especially if your English is not your mother language)

Hi,
I tried this one and dont understand if this a search engine like google or this one is totally different site? Forum abbreviations are something which not every time is on the first pages on google when you search for it.
For example when you tipe OP in google there is no result like origina poster or something

Then search 'OP acronym/abbreviation' or whatever and you'll find an explanation on the first page. There's also this site which is brought up: http://www.acronymfinder.com/OP.html

The most commons abbrevition used in this forum is: IMHO (In my honest opinion) :D

Other of this is OP or to da moon (to indicate the big rise of a price) :D

This is actually one of the very few forums that don't use all the abbreviations. I like it.

It just needs some common sense, not all of the abbreviations will solved like this, but for example, OP is either Original Post or Original Poster.

Agreed. All of the slang on this forum was prior knowledge for me, and you don't have someone going around saying, "TTTFY CSB ERMAGEWD BRO".

The Terminology thread should SERIOUSLY be stickied.
Let's report the thread and ask it to be stickied.

Agree.
That thread should be a must read for newbies, but I haven't found it until now...

The Terminology thread should SERIOUSLY be stickied.
Let's report the thread and ask it to be stickied.

It will both the newbies and us, the experienced users.

Where newbies will understand what each term is about, and we will save time and effort.
