I hope with all my heart that paypal will implement bitcoin payment. The amount of money that will flow through their website will quadruple, and the amount of users will rise by a ton. I dont really see why they shouldnt.

The topic title had me interested
What makes a survey bizarre
I gave it a quick read and agree that the questions were bias
Although to answer it
1) Bitcoin Wins
2) Bitcoin Lol
Etc.

Although I would add the caveat with stuff like Blockchain added etc.

They are wasting time and money with this survey. There is no direct comparison between BTC and Bitcoin for most users. It's like comparing Oranges and Cows, or grains of sand to grams of gold.  :D

They have willingly selected a set of questions that are relevant to traditional currency and hence can be answered better for PayPal but are harder to answer for Bitcoin.

Does that confuse non-Bitcoin users or newbies? Yes.
Does that help PayPal against Bitcoin? NO.

I had a bizarre conversation with Paypal customer support recently. Maybe it's just the corporate culture there.

Whoever made that survey don't know a lot about bitcoin, or they hope that the people answering it don't. Because the questions makes no sense. We might see PayPal integration soon, at least, I hope so.

Don't get too much excited about this survey. This survey is a strong evidence to the fact that Paypal considers Bitcoin as one of their stronger rivals. They have no intention to integrate Bitcoin to their system. Rather they will step up their anti-Bitcoin lobbying.

If and when they do (more when I suspect) I sure hope that their technical guys have a much firmer grasp of the fundamentals than the author of this ridiculous survey did.

2 in 5 people owning bitcoin regularly use bitcoin to pay for goods and services. More people have read the satoshi whitepaper or own altcoins than use bitcoin regularly as a currency.

Agreed.

"9/10 of people surveyed admitted Paypal was the better option". Quite pathetic really  :D

Yes I agree. But I don't agree with bryant.coleman, if Paypal chose to stay away from bitcoin, they will be the only losers. This is big companies who should be able to make good decisions.

Look at the so called results from their survey. 90% of the people preferring Paypal over Bitcoin. It is like going to a pub belonging to the Spanish national football team supporters, and asking everyone whom they support for today's match, Spain or the Netherlands? I wouldn't have had any problems with a survey for the general population. But this survey was available only for the Paypal users.

That survey is not bizarre at all.
If you think about it, it's clear why it seems so.

Some PR monkey at PayPal creates a survey to question PayPal's users.
Whenever the user clicks "I use payment service X more than 25% of the time" the survey switches into "comparison mode".
The questions then try to compare PayPal to service X, which could be anything like Western Union, neteller, skrill, you name it.
Amongst those options, they also decided to include Bitcoin, but they did not adapt the comparison questions to the specific feature set of Bitcoin.
And that's all.

In the end, the only thing it tells us is:
PayPal regards Bitcoin to be one of its serious competitors, otherwise, they wouldn't have listed it at all.
