Let's say you had the cash in Japan (in JPY), which exchanges, banks, etc. would you use? Any help will be very much appreciated, thanks :]

You can easily acquire that much XRP over a few days within the Ripple system itself using the USD and BTC. There is a fair bit of liquidity right now.
