Title: Kudos for just-dice. Variance without sacrifice.
Post by: PacoMartin on June 13, 2014, 04:13:44 PM
Often mathematicians give long winded arguments concerning Martingale, Reverse Martingale and D'Alembert. They explain about independent events and "dice don't have memory, but people do". So to repeat, betting systems don't change the underlying probability of the game, they don't make it better or worse. As long as you understand that point, you won't be under any delusions.

But people crave variance. They like to bet on boxcars, they like the thrill of Martingale, they enjoy throwing a small amount of money into a lottery ticket with a huge prize. Casinos know this, so they normally set very high house edge for jackpot bets.

Personally, I would much rather play 10 bets that pay 10 for 1, then 10 even money bets. It's more satisfying.

So, I want to give kudos to just-dice.com . They offer you any choice of jackpot you want, and all at the same low house edge of 1%. So instead of playing hard-ways or boxcars or any other proposition bet at casino craps where the house edge is 9.09% or 11.11%, I can set up the same payouts without paying a ridiculous house edge.
