Title: Fastest way to import private keys and send funds?
Post by: btcsql on June 14, 2014, 05:10:32 PM
Is there a way to import a private key and sign a transaction with it sweeping funds to a new address, on the fly, with Bitcoind? Or, to achieve something like the speed of a Blockchain.info private key sweep, would you need to have the blockchain in a database and manually craft the transaction? Any input is appreciated.

With Mycelium, you can pay from a cold storage address.

hmm if im understanding correctly...

importing into blockchain.info wallet would be quick..
if you imported into bitcoin-qt you would need to -rescan which takes like 15-20 mins on my pc.. perhps quicker on yours (bu hopefully not much, or i need a new laptop)

Exactly. I'd like to mimic the import private key process of Blockchain.info, but on my own server. Any ideas?

Like other member suggested, with mycelium android wallet you spend coins by scan or input of private key and after tx broadcast wallet delete every trace of that private key.

I am looking to do this server-side, not from any app though.

Electrum can import a private key.  If you want to keep everything in bitcoind you'll have to rescan.  I'm not sure what armory's reindexing speed is vs bitcoind.
