What do you think about it? Is it still possible a Dream American for an European, African or Asian guy?

The American dream is nothing more than propaganda to scam gullible people into buying things they can't afford, you may as well call it a cult, it's a nice fairy tale that was told to get people to come to America and get into huge amounts of debt.

p.s. I hate apple pie

In the 50's the average revenue after taxes in real terms was higher than now in the USA

Big government, corruption that is the consequence of big governement, wars and the thrive for power and manipulation of the politics are killing the economy

well, i think there is still something to be said for coming here from a poorer country, getting paid a good wage and sending remittances back home. but the American Dream -- like, buy a picket fence house, raise 2.3 children, middle class comforts -- that is starting to die. it will be a while before we see a real decline in yuppies, though.

Situation in my country which is Italy is the same, equal situation.

I think that the new American Dream is in Asia, especially in China.

I'm from the UK :P that said, we all have our own particular brands of propaganda, the difference is being able to tell when it is propaganda and when it isn't.

It depends on your definition of "American dream." If your American dream is to have a huge beachfront house and sit in the pool while everybody else works their arse off, that is obviously out of reach for most people. But if your American dream is to own a house in a decent neighborhood and pay off your car, it's doable if you just work at it. I think that's most of the problem. People expect things to be handed to them but they don't want to keep up their end of things and do the leg work.

It think part of is still true. There are many oppurtunities in America to improve your Life. The average salary in America is many times bigger than many third world countries. If an poor Asian guy that go to America and work hard saves his money and go back to his country. He will surely would have a good life.

the american dream is tethered to the american middle class, and our politicians don't seem to want to support it. rather, they are more interested in helping their wealthy friends. america has bounced back before, but the odds are stacked against us.. our own government is standing in the way.

Are you sure about that? Are you sure you aren't tricked into believing you know the difference between propaganda and what is not? I mean, there's some pretty obvious propaganda, and then some discrete propaganda...

Propaganda is a viewpoint, what has been proven as fact is not propaganda, if there are no facts, then everything is propaganda.

I find it amusing that people complain about a nuclear family in a mortgaged house when most in the second world are living in dilapidated apartments, and then those in the third world are in improvised shelter or entire extended families live in 2000 SQF homes.  I'ld say the American family has it pretty darn good, if not the best in the world.
