Title: Pretty Good analysis of Alt scams - on Devtome well done author. Post by: digitalindustry on June 15, 2014, 03:46:09 PM http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins I know a few people brought into some of these scams, so maybe this can be of use in the future, its always good to check, and leverage off peers industry knowledge. how i found it was by looking at CoinmarketCap and saw a currency called "Neutrino" sitting at 9 just under Quark if you filter by "Premine and non minable" - https://coinmarketcap.com/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/ I have been waiting for a while for someone to try this scam - it turns out they mined 210 million themselves never announced it to Bitcoin talk or the market, and now its in the EQ reward. They basically would want to point to Quark and say "look its just like Quark" - actually no they just have 210 million unit of the currency as difficulty never raised above 0, so they literally mined the whole chain in silence and now are going to trade it back and forth between themselves and slowly try to bid it up. http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins#neutrinocoin perhaps one day in 1000 years when everyone has walked away from it and the original Devs dump all they have, that system could work, but its literally no different to a pre mine.

Post by: digitalindustry on June 15, 2014, 03:46:58 PM Now, obviously I'd rather he sing Quarks praises and want to point out to the author the "once" off nature in which Quark was mined then dumped onto the market; went to zero, (similar to Zeta, but better) (as the market had no idea this was going to happen)
But in the end, the author looked at the data and come to a fair evaluation based on the math, not so much based on the market sociology, but i'm happy with that so far , if more education spreads we see the market (and more importantly) the Peers of the market coming around. Quark is just what it is, it was a fast distribution model that saved a lot of problems, it was mined "in plain sight" then presented to the largest amount of the market possible at the lowest price possible (very close zero price). The only issues it had at that point was access to exchange and BTC to buy. Title: Re: Pretty Good analysis of Alt scams - on Devtome well done author. I saw a void in the internet space where plenty of people were being swept into mania about alt coins, myself included, and realized someone had to fill that information void. Its quite basic info but it can be time consuming so im glad people are liking it. I still maintain that this guide only covers rudimentary aspects of the coin. The development team, the community, and other aspects could influence you to overlook a less than optimal start. In no way am i prepare to write a wiki on all of that! However, the worse the start...the more stringent you should be on letting yourself use a coin. The goal of the wiki is to help clean up the shit that rises in the alt coin world. There is a scourge amongst us and it is the pump and dumpers who have the money to manipulate us and create these cool sounding coins, many of which are scams. We already have an uphill battle with our image to the outside world. Let's not make it worse by supporting obviously manipulated starts to enrich a few people. the current monetary system does that quite well. If you agree with this sentiment, use this wiki! So many of these crap coins are clearly thrown together without too much professionalism that i suspect less than 10% are big players pulling the strings. Probably only the well polished ones. The fact is that out of control human greed without scruples is causing our problems; be it a bank controlled crypto or just some shmucks who seized an opportunity to make some BTC. It's all the same. Title: Re: Pretty Good analysis of Alt scams - on Devtome well done author. Post by: Whoisthelorax on June 15, 2014, 06:55:01 PM I agree with your sentiment that Big Banks are not pleased at all about the prospect of crypto currency. Hopefully the crypto movement keeps its focus on changing the world for the better and less on the profit motive of bitcoin. They will use our own greed to weaken our cause.
